I thought Jews had a reputation of rabble-rousing for some kind of sympathy from others to live off. Rightly or wrongly stereotyped, the stigma is there. Though I don't hear about it so much as I did in the 1990s, Jews seem to use WW2 to justify supporting Israel financially. But at least there isn't anymore talk about people claiming to be a Holocaust survivor -- so at least they are holding us under 50 year olds to some standard of respect.
Jewish people were blamed for helping end the war in the Allies favour, thereby denying Germany a win in WW1. WW2 was created by a fiercely nationalistic nation and government trying to reclaim some pride and sovereignty of traditional German lands, and rebuild/expand their economy. But getting into Poland was going too far for the British to accept. I can't see how you would blame Jews for creating the second war.
You can't. But they were 'convenient'. To motivate a nation, in the grip of a pretty severe depression, you need a 'Great Enemy'. A foreign enemy works ok, so does an internal one, but the best is a 'worldwide conspiracy' against the people, which is what Hitler gave the German people.
It wasn't very difficult either, most of the Germans were Christian, and the churches had been using the Jews kill Jesus story for centuries, and the Jewish people were fairly insular as well, which helped the story along a lot.
America used a fairly similar method in the Cold War against Communism and something very similar is being used now against corporations and 'Capitalism' (the great eviiiilllll)
