Abbott Wants Us To Pay Qantas Debt

Should Abbott agree for taxpayers to guarantee Qantas debt?

Qantas is not looking for a handout and the airline's CEO Alan Joyce believes there is "little political or community appetite" for changing the Qantas Sale Act.

But the federal government can still come to the national carrier's aid, he says.

Hinting that the airline continues to seek a debt guarantee from Canberra, Mr Joyce outlined some detail during a speech to the Tourism and Transport Forum in the nation's capital on Wednesday.

Moderators, this title is deliberately false and misleading. This topic should either be deleted or the title changed. Prime Minister Tony Abbott has NOT said he wants taxpayers to pay for Qantas' debt. The article included in the link of the OP makes no mention of Abbott asking taxpayers to fund payment of Qantas' debt. Indeed, there is not one single mention of Abbott in the entire article - NOT ONE!
