There are reports that Bill Shorten is privately looking at methods for introducing compulsory union membership in all jobs across the entire country in a bold bid to boost anorexic Union membership numbers. Enquiries to the ALP head office enquiring about this secret plan were not returned. According to a source, Shorten's plan would see membership of a Union become a compulsory criteria in accepting a new job or keeping your current job. This is in direct contrast to the current policy of voluntary Union membership which makes any attempt to coerce/force an employee to join a Union illegal. Employers would also have no right to deny access to workplaces by Union officials, meaning that Union officials can turn up at any time unannounced. Due to the secrecy of this undoubtedly controversial plan, the source is not authorised to speak on the record and so wishes to remain anonymous but felt that it was important to speak out because this batshit crazy plan needs to be stopped quick-smart.
