Abbott's Abracadabra Economics
Feb 14th, 2014 at 2:39pm

Prime Minister Tony Abbott believes a rising unemployment rate could turn around quite quickly if the government is allowed to get on with its job.

Unemployment has jumped to six per cent, its highest level in a decade.

Mr Abbott said it was the job of his government to get the economic fundamentals right.

“If we are allowed to get on with our job, I believe things will get better, and they will get better quite quickly,” he told Fairfax radio on Friday, referring to a decision by Labor and the Greens to oppose key government legislation in the Senate.

However, he could not guarantee that jobs figures won’t bounce around month to month, noting the previous Labor government had forecast a 6.25 per cent unemployment rate by the middle of 2014.

“Unemployment is a lagging indicator and the figures today reflect economic conditions that were developing in the latter half of last year,” Mr Abbott said.

No lecturing here … just curious if conservatives that support Abbott's abracadabra economic model know what they are supporting.

Do they?

Im guessing that most if not all of the Greens also went to uni..the difference being that they didn't get a dead Pommy fart who stole a country and its resources while also murdering tens of thousands of Zimbabweans to make his fortune from blood diamonds to pay their way Cheesy

Mr Coot, really ~ even his own mates in the Liberal party laugh at the suggestion Abbott knows anything about a nation's economics.  Did you not notice in Parliament on Wednesday during QT ~ he was asked a question on economic which he deflected to Arab Joe?

Oh.......oops.......... Embarrassed

I've only been watching spasmodically over the last several years, and I've never seen a PM refuse to answer a question, and pass it on to another Minister.
