Think of it as a superposition of uncertain possibilities which allow enough flexibility whereby the best possible outcomes for any variables you may consider, may come to pass simultaneously as you consider the bigger picture and reforge it through the crucible of your being.

Your empathy for the victims of 'bad things' will ensure you reach the limits of your tolerance of what is acceptable in your reality and your fear can turn to love as you realise through this flexibility, a way for each variable to be upheld in the most positive light.

It may not necessarily be like that for you, free will is part of that flexibility, but I think that's a rough blueprint by which each of us may contribute our best wishes for the improvements to the overall narrative. Isn't it a more pleasing story when everyone gets the happiest of endings?
