Problems getting access to site

Btw, has anyone else been having problems accessing this site today? It has often timed out and I have had problems getting on here!

I've had a few problems with the site. It's been very slow and hasn't been loading the threads.

I'm not sure what area you're in, but Sydney and surrounding areas have been inundated with heavy rain. If you have ADSL then I'm putting it down to moisture in Telstra's junction box which causes all sorts of problems in wet weather.

FD,
Further to the above observations yesterday, I had problems again this morning & could not get access for several hours.

It would seem, something is going on?

Btw, when the site can finally be accessed, it's like a switch gets flicked & all is then ok, until the next time.

If any other members have been having problems getting onto this site, PLEASE ADVISE!

Sometimes when I encounter things like that I clear all history from my browser and that cures it!

Yeah, good thought!

However, just by co-incidence, I already did that earlier this week, so there's not that much there, now.

And, it seems to be working again now, without the slowness in accessing.

Steel cap boots, hard hat, hi vis shirt or vest, safety glasses.

That's usually the minimum for getting access to the site.

I think I had a similar problem on the weekend. I checked it out on pingdom and the site was still up and working reasonably quickly, so it was something to do with my web access. I think other sites may have also been inaccessible, but the problem went away before I could figure it out.

If it happens again, get a response time from pingdom.com. If it scores less than 80% (ie "faster than 80% of sites tested"), it is probably a site problem. Otherwise, the problem is somewhere else.

We have a thread somewhere for posting pingdom results.

I didn't seem to have problems elsewhere!

It has to be all about the NBN and water in the telecom thingies. Just ask George, he knows.  Roll Eyes

Actually, I have never had a problem, possibly due to the fact that I do not dwell on this Forum as my main source of entertainment or contact with the outside world. Not that being addicted to a Forum is a problem .... ditto homosexuality ...... it IS a choice thing.  Wink

And just as you'd expect, Murphy strikes.  I have been trying to log in for the last 77 minutes unsuccessfully.

When I finally made it, I went straight to that 'ping' thing.....the site came up, as did the url for here, but when I hit 'test,' a text came up saying it could not be linked.

Huh

I should add FD.......the same thing at PA.   Thought I'd try that as well, and sure enough, could not get there.  As with here, that usual timed out long message comes up.

In that case, it must be a server thing as it was only here and there I could not access ~ there were a zillion other places I had no problem accessing.

ONLY a KNOB would continually click on a Forum URL for 77 MINUTES and note the time they finally made it through.  Haven't you got a lawn to mow or a cab to drive or something?

Honestly ...... some people seem to be so bloody dependent on a Forum/Board that they have withdrawal symptoms when they cannot immediately get access.

GET A smacking LIFE.

I tried a few times -
it looks like the forum was down for about 1.5  hours.
From about 3.10pm to now 4.56pm.

Must be a DOS attack.
