Refugees should be processed and settled in Australia in accordance with the refugee convention......Australia is now paying a heavy price both in $ and international reputation so we can punish and imprison refugees who seek our help.....All Australians should be ashamed of themselves and their Government over the brutal treatment we deliver to innocent people!!!

I agree Philperth, and am personally disgusted that both major parties caved to the racist, bigoted, populist, calls to "stop the boats".

Abbott and Co bleating how successful they are is repugnant, because we know that they achieve success only by demonstrating the fact that refugees headed to Australia will be treated most cruelly and unfairly.

SHAME ON ALL OF US, but most especially all those who joined in the demonising of refugees as "illegals", etc.

I agree, the current liberal policy is very un-liberal like, even labor solution was un-labor like.

At to be honest the current policy isnt brutal treatment as we are turning back boats before they enter Australian waters. However the old liberal policy as well as the current labor policy are nothing more than brutal treatment.
