"The recent policy proposal of the Australian Government to resettle refugees onto the island of Papua New Guinea is, quite frankly, abhorrent, callous and wholeheartedly condemned by Amnesty International.

The people fleeing warzones and areas of de-stabilisation and being forced to undertake journeys to reach safety deserve sympathy and compassion - something which is lacking in the recent announcement by Australia.

Papua New Guinea is a developing nation with numerous issues, including human rights problems which have been highlighted by both Amnesty and the United Nations Special Council of Treatment of Displaced Persons.
PNG restricts rights of refugees, it has seen several counts of violence from the local population while not to mention is a country with significant poverty issues of its own.

To see a developed, wealthy nation such as Australia wring its hands of the fair, just treatment of desperate people and dump them on to a developing nation to respond to domestic electioneering is something we as an organization find appalling and deplorable.

Amnesty International calls upon Australia to revoke this policy and to instead act in a manner more becoming of a developed world nation playing its part in a just society."

I agree, Greens. Matty joined the Greens for their animal welfare policies and had to go to Alan’s pro-carbon protest rally to make up for it.

The lovely Sophie’s only just started talking to him again. Matty’s year in exile didn’t help. Matty just needs a safe Liberal seat, but we know there are some in the Libs with other ideas.

Running Matty in the Northern Territory in the last election was just a waste of good talent.

You support processing asylum seekers in Australia and not treating them badly correct?

Can you tell me why you voted for a party that proposed dumping them all on PNG and in a policy described by Amnesty - who have absolutely zero bias or interest in Australian domestic politics - as "callous and deplorable"?
