Saddam's recitals were legendary. Why the Yanks would cancel his future performances still remains a mystery.

That could apply to dozens of world leaders at the time...and in fact Saddam turned out to be one of the least most dangerous to western countries.
There is no denying that he was a brutal dictator that thought nothing of torturing and murdering anyone that looked at him sideways but he certainly was not alone and that is not why we invaded Iraq.
We invaded because we were told Saddam was about to fling nuclear and chemical weapons at the UK, USA and Australia
At the time we were told it was a pack of lies and when we invaded it turned out that Saddam was no danger at all to any western countries.

I guess you are right....look I am all for turning a blind eye to atrocities it gets us into far too much trouble and who need trouble I ask you..

who cares if he murdered Kurds..

As early as April 1987, the Iraqis used chemical weapons to remove Kurds from their villages in northern Iraq during the Anfal campaign. It is estimated that chemical weapons were used on approximately 40 Kurdish villages, with the largest of these attacks occurring on March 16, 1988 against the Kurdish town of Halabja.

Beginning in the morning on March 16, 1988 and continuing all night, the Iraqis rained down volley after volley of bombs filled with a deadly mixture of mustard gas and nerve agents on Halabja. Immediate effects of the chemicals included blindness, vomiting, blisters, convulsions, and asphyxiation. Approximately 5,000 women, men, and children died within days of the attacks. Long-term effects included permanent blindness, cancer, and birth defects. An estimated 10,000 lived, but live daily with the disfigurement and sicknesses from the chemical weapons.

Saddam Hussein's cousin, Ali Hassan al-Majid was directly in charge of the chemical attacks against the Kurds, earning him the epithet, "Chemical Ali."

so what???.. its no where near AUstralia we should learn from this and mind our own b usiness..

its disgusting the way we get involved in minor sirmishes..

I am so glad you have opened my eyes crow....let them fight their own battles.. grow a pair as the saying goes.

Why are you so hung up for Australia to raise war with other countries? You board, have nothing better to think of? Sounds like you have the American bug.

Cods...the Turks still love killing Kurds and in fact the English used them for aerial bombing  practice during WW1 despite the Kurds being our allies.
No one is saying that Hussein wasn't a prick who deserved everything that happened to him but destroying a country and handing the population over to the worlds nastiest terrorists and Islamic fundamentalists to do it was a tad extreme.

As usual the conga line make excuses for their gutless leader. Adel  is not advocating for war with any country, he is asking why the women basher prefers to bash women and third world countries while cowering in the corner when it comes to the big boys. So far, the conga line have only made excuses and abused the messenger, showing they are no better than the women basher.

Really, he's not very good at making a point then, otherwise you would not be trying to explain it to everyone after 7 friggen pages of drivel.

As far I am aware no one is going to war with russia, and russia isn't at war with anyone, so why exactly is abbott required to rattle his sabre in this instance?

Seems like this thread was fked up from the very begining, by someone not intellegent enough to put across a valid and cogent statement / question.
