As usual the conga line make excuses for their gutless leader. Adel  is not advocating for war with any country, he is asking why the women basher prefers to bash women and third world countries while cowering in the corner when it comes to the big boys. So far, the conga line have only made excuses and abused the messenger, showing they are no better than the women basher.

WASHINGTON (CNN)  -- The U.S. military's first and only study looking into ties between Saddam Hussein's Iraq and al Qaeda showed no connection between the two, according to a military report released by the Pentagon.

The report released by the Joint Forces Command five years after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq said it found no "smoking gun" after reviewing about 600,000 Iraqi documents captured in the invasion and looking at interviews of key Iraqi leadership held by the United States, Pentagon officials said.

The assessment of the al Qaeda connection and the insistence that Hussein had weapons of mass destruction were two primary elements in the Bush administration's arguments in favour of going to war with Iraq.

The Pentagon's report also contradicts then-Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld, who said in September 2002 that the CIA provided "bulletproof" evidence demonstrating "that there are, in fact, al Qaeda in Iraq."

No I don't. I expect the Aus PM to stay out of any wars that don't concern us, but that is not the gist of this thread. This thread is about conservative PMs playing bully boy with third world countries while cowering in the corner when facing the big boys.

Roll the tape back again and you'll see I never said Saddam was linked to al-Qaeda.

At one time I personally knew of militia training operations being conducted by Croatian friends of mine in bushland outside of Sydney in preparation for the Bosnian war ... but that's not to say that Australia was 'linked' to the Bosnia-Croatian war efforts.

Quote:
Founded in October 2004, al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) emerged from a transnational terrorist group created and led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The original iteration of the group, Bayat al Imam, began in Jordan in the early 1990s.

The group first associated with al Qaeda’s senior leadership in 1999 and fought alongside al Qaeda core and the Taliban during the U.S. strikes in Afghanistan in late 2001. Shortly after, the group transferred to Iraq in anticipation of the U.S.-led invasion.

From 2003 through 2007, the group galvanized the Iraqi insurgency until its high-profile, divisively brutal tactics and failure to deliver meaningful gains to its nominal constituents led to a reversal in its popularity.

The death of Zarqawi in 2006 has been followed with a series of successful counterterror strikes against his successors. Nonetheless, the group has proven resilient and though its activities are greatly diminished since its operational peak in 2007, it has proven still capable of carrying out high-profile attacks, particularly against soft targets.

TLDNR all.....

But, here we go again???

Ukraine: Tony Abbott tells Russia to 'back off'

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin to "back off" from invading neighbouring Ukraine.

"This is very, very concerning and I think that every Australian, and people right around the world, will be thinking: hands off the Ukraine," Mr Abbott told Channel Ten's Bolt Report on Sunday morning. "This is not the kind of action of a friend and neighbour and I think Russia should back off."

If we were to look at the world like detached auditors there is probably a strong case for targeted non judicial assassinations.

Who do we kill to cause the least killing and suffering.

We would have to keep in mind who would take over from our dearly departed target and would they cause more problems?

Putin would be up there, Mugabe, and that little fat prick from North Korea.

We just dont seem to have the stomach to say if we kill this 30 people we will save those 3000 people which is quite irrational.

What type of terrorist groups did Iraq support under Saddam Hussein’s regime?
Primarily groups that could hurt Saddam’s regional foes. Saddam has aided the Iranian dissident group Mujahadeen-e-Khalq and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (known by its Turkish initials, PKK), a separatist group fighting the Turkish government. Moreover, Iraq has hosted several Palestinian splinter groups that oppose peace with Israel , including the mercenary Abu Nidal Organization, whose leader, Abu Nidal, was found dead in Baghdad in August 2002. Iraq has also supported the Islamist Hamas movement and reportedly channeled money to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers. A secular dictator, however, Saddam tended to support secular terrorist groups rather than Islamist ones such as al-Qaeda, experts say.
