Hilux For Sale
Mar 12th, 2014 at 12:48pm

Hi all,

I sold my business a few months ago and have decided to also sell my Toyota Hilux. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it - it's never broken down once. I just simply don't need a utility anymore and want to get a sedan (family car) to drive my family around in. It's a 2007 Hilux SR (4dr, Auto, V6) and it's in excellent condition. It's got tinted windows in the passenger cabin and the windows on the canopy are also tinted. It's got a genuine Toyota towbar package, a set of four brand new tyres and has been regularly serviced. If interested, drop me a line. I can provide pictures. I am hoping to sell for around $15,900 but I am willing to negotiate with reasonable offers.

Thanks.

you should be able to sell it quickly on carsales.com  ... demand for the hilux is always good.

It's been on there a couple of months. I thought it would've sold by now. Three users have saved it. No dents - nothing wrong with it.

Hi, I would like to suggest "Gumtree"....we have had better success selling on Gumtree than say, Ebay, simply because, Gumtree is like the old fashioned Trading Post, where people put in a location, and say, within 50 or 100kms or whatever they are willing to travel, and will most likely come and see it being closer to their homeground.

I had a poptop caravan on ebay for ages, and had to pay $8 every time I advertised it, and only for 10 days at a time.

Nothing came of it.

Put it on Gumtree, and got lots of enquiries, emails, phonecalls, and sold!
The people are very happy with it.

So it's all about accessability and being closer to home to bother to go and look at it.

Give Gumtree a try...oh and by the way....it's totally free.

Whereas on carsales you pay a fee of $50 from memory.
Ebay get their cut also.
Gumtree is free.
But for how long, who knows, because, Ebay have now bought out Gumtree.

Get in while you can.

What are similar vehicles priced at Armpit? Unusal for it to not sell .. I sold my car on there in a couple of weeks

by the way, I also listed on Gumtree  however I didn't get a single enquiry out of it. The good thing with gumtree is that it's free, so you've nothing to lose, try it anyway

ps. Just a warning, there is a scam you need to be wary of, someone will give a long phone text from some far away place, that they can't come because they work in some NZ oil drilling ofshore project, and want to buy your item, and so forth. Then the BS starts to flow about sending a courier to pick it up blah blah with extra money blah blah.
Ignore that.
The genuine ones, will phone, email or text on your mobile, a time they can come and see it, and then will ask for your address.
And of course, always be ready for the negotiation.... Smiley

John, we also advertised the case skid steer loader on ebay, and our toyota sahara 4wd on carsales AND ebay, but nothing, yet on Gumtree, both items sold.

Yet, my son's hiace van sold on carsales okay.

Best to try whatever seems to work I guess.

haha, yeah, a couple of times at least....emails and phone text, and funny enough, a couple of them at the same time, probably not aware of each other doing that, and the same phone number comes up, which I phone and doesn't go through, of course, they say they are not contactable being in such a remote location blah blah ha ha

I tried Gumtree - only enquiries were from scammers using the old "oil rig" line and even a couple of enquiries wanting to swap! If I wanted a Hilux, I wouldn't sell the one I already have!!! Shocked

Yeah, I know. I wish I'd had an extra $5k to have been able to purchase the diesel when I started the business, but unfortunately I did not.

Well Mr Chair.....I'd just get on with it and trade against the family car you want to acquire.  Yer not gonna get what you want.  Cars are a poo commodity out of which used car salesmen and car dealers make a quid.  You will not be an exception to that Rule, no-one is.

Yes, I know. That is why I am trying to sell it privately first. Going to a dealer is my last resort, as I might get $12,000 for it while the dealer then sells it for $15,000. This is why I want to sell it privately if possible.

so advertise for $14 500 ... you'll still end up in front compared to the alternative
