SA election
Mar 15th, 2014 at 9:55pm

Why did the Liberal do so bad?
Labor were expected to get flogged, but they could well keep government.
I believe most people are smart enough to distinguish between federal and state issue, sure there are some fools( hi progs and co) but all in all the fact we often have different govs at state and federal level shows most do distinguish.
So the question needs to be asked, why did the Libs do so bad?

The Libs got 5.25% of the two party vote.

Michael Kroger was saying that there is a big gerrymander down there, that pretty much assures Labor getting a lot of seats regardless of the two part vote.

Liberal votes tend to be concentrated in very safe Liberal seats.

Not sure why this is.

Didn't the Liberal leader tell everyone before the election to vote Labor?  Maybe the people were listening....

He should have taken the heads up from Tony, but he chose to tell the truth, strange.

Marshall said he wouldn’t fight Tony Abbott. Lost the election right there! Simian as popular as a pork chop at a synagogue!

Ven you consider the class of people's that inhabits zee middle of Australia, it vos always going to be tough for a decent hardvorking party to win zee election. After all, zis is where zey managed to scrape ze bottom of the barrel and find one of zee last labor prime ministers. It's a gene pool zat is as shallow as it is narrow.

Someone I know from Adelaide said that there are a lot of infrastructure projects currently going on in Adelaide, and there is widespread concern that a liberal govt would pull the plug on those projects.

Weatherill needs to be commended for an excellent campaign. Very few state governments are competitive at elections after 12 years in power.

Probably the best case scenario for labor both SA and federally is to have a hung parliament and the independents supporting a minority liberal government. A minority lib government in the backdrop of wall-to-wall liberal state governments is the best way of getting liberals on the electorates' nose.

What a disaster for the liberal party. I wonder if they will approach Alex Downer ,AGAIN, to lead them.
