Did y'all see the news friends? That aint right! Them passengers these days aint even showing no sympathy to them cyclists and such when they open doors on em and bowl em over! That AINT RIGHT! And what's the crime here friends?

The fact the door was opened?
The fact the details weren't exchanged?
The fact the cab driver wouldn't give details?

No friends, it's much much worse - take a look.

take a swipe at the idiocy of inadequate bike-lanes, and at those drivers who
(like you, apparently) seem to think that they have more right to be on the
road than cyclists.?

I was wiped out in cairns one time by some arse in a ute using the bicycle lane to pass a car. Nobody stopped. My bike was wrecked. SOB

Drivers pay for those roads not bike riders, if bike riders want safe raods for themselves there is an obvious solution.

Most adult riders also drive, so the 'pay their way' argument has no legs.

FACT!

You are correct about some drivers being idiots, though. Recently, I had one
come through a roundabout and nearly take me out on the Apollo III, despite
the fact that I had right-of-way and was already halfway through the round-
about when he entered it. There was NO way he didn't see me. Missed him
by inches (no thanks to him) and copped the usual mouthful of abuse. The
realisation that he'd just nearly killed someone never even entered his head.

I might add that, a week previously, and one intersection away, I was nearly
'got' by some asshole who thought the 'Give Way' sign didn't apply to him.

I dunno man....I've got nothing against cyclists and I don't understand people who do, but the way she reacted was very odd...reminiscent of a today tonight reporter.

That said, the error was clearly on the part of the suited asshole in the taxi. I just can't help but feel if she wasn't so intent on a "gotcha!" expose from the start, she might have got some satisfaction.

When I drive a car I am expected to give bikes a one metre space, should bikes have to as well?
They always pass me on the left when I am not indicating to turn right, thats an infringement.

Anyway the roads are the natural environment of the car if bikes want to dip their toe onto the roads they have to be aware that cars are just doing what cars do naturally.

Its just the same as swimmers and sharks, if you venture into their territory.....

WRONG!!!

Bicycles have been around far longer than cars.

And so, for that matter, have motorcycles.

It is the cars who are the johnny-come-latelys', not the bicycles.

And, FYI, it is LEGAL for a bicycle to pass on the left. It is NOT 'an infringement'.

I thought the same thing when I first saw it, but then I realised that she was in a marked cycle lane. He should have checked or at the very least the taxi driver should have checked the mirrors and warned the passenger to not open the doors.
