It seems that Newman is to thick or to stupid to learn ...

now he's blaming the people of Queensland for simply not understanding why he does what he does

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-20/premier-campbell-newman-says-queenslanders...

With this sort of attitude I'd say Newmans demise in inevitable

Dismantling the CMC?
Giving Ministers the right to put people in jail without judicial oversight?
Jobs for the boys on the LNP gravy train?

Did you include these in the "better state", Mr Newman?

Left out having a Minister with the power to tell the Courts when they do have and not have permission to hear criminal charges.

This little saviour being only applied to Newman's criminal mates.

I sort of lumped that in with the general remarks about judicial oversight, but you are right to mention that it goes both ways. It's pretty bad when the government of Queensland is taking the doctrine of separation of powers and beating it senseless in dark alleys away from the glare of public scrutiny.

Queensland is a state of disrepair - just behind Australia the Once-Beautiful.

Once our people were warriors, Jake - people cleared the Outback and heroes like Bernard O'Reilly, who cleared a resort and also tracked and discovered the survivors from a plane crash, were revered as true men.

Our people once were heroes.. now we're nothing!

Queensland is a stateless State, lost in its own wilderness.

The only solution for poor old long-suffering Queensland is that we invade.. for their own good, sort of like Israel invading Gaza to sort out their problems there..

Queensland Supreme Courts Judges continue to revolt against Newmann's Chief Justice appointee.  This is from todays Courier Mail:

Quote:
JUDGES of the Supreme Court are at war with their boss and have vowed to criticise Chief Justice Tim Carmody until he quits.

Court of Appeal Justice John Muir has been backed by senior Supreme Court judges including David Boddice, Philip McMurdo and Martin Daubney in an extraordinary revolt against Justice Carmody.

The Courier-Mail has learned the push against Justice Carmody will continue relentlessly with his opponents determined he must quit.

“It should be apparent to everyone, in particular the new Chief Justice and the Attorney-General, that no one (on the Supreme Court bench) will ever accept Carmody has the credentials or skills required (to do the job),” a senior judicial officer said.

“The only way this situation can be remedied is if (Justice Carmody) resigns and a more experienced (judge is) appointed.”

Justice Carmody is 58 and has 12 years left in the job before he is required to retire.

The rebellion has seen some Supreme Court judges even refuse to acknowledge Justice Carmody when they see him. It is understood the Supreme Court judges have been quietly nudging retiring or retired judges to take public shots at Justice Carmody.

What a bloody nightmare!  All Newmann's doing with the help of his Boy Wonder Attorney General.

That did not happen.  What you are probably referring to was that he plucked a nobody called Terry Lewis, a copper in western Queensland, and made him Police Commissioner.  The Fitzgerald Inquiry oversaw the particularly telling end to the corruption of Lewis.

And the Judiciary eating its own continues.  I don't blame them.  Newmann's incoming Chief Justice of the Supreme Court had his public ceremony today, and only one other Judge was there....a new bloke being sworn in as a Judge.  The existing Judges of the Supreme Court all boycotted the ceremony, to a wo/man.  This is all about Newmann promoting Carmody to the highest judicial office in this State from the crappy position of Chief Magistrate.  In taking that appointment, Carmody leap-frogged dozens of very highly qualified and experienced District and Supreme Court Judges.  No-one believes it to be any mere coincidence that prior to his elevation, Carmody was unusually vocal as  a Magistrate, lauding Newmann's garbage bikie legislation.

Newmann has politicised the CMC (ICAC equivalent), the Police Force and now the Supreme Court.

Link.

The profound significance of this boycott by every existing Supreme Court Judge cannot be underestimated or ignored.  It is unprecedented.

So, Newmman has been down in the polls, and today clawed a small bit back according to Rechtel, it seems at the very insignificant expense of PUP.  And, also today, Newmman announces there will be a Report to be compiled on an increase in incidents of domestic violence over the last 12 months.

This is a pathetic political move to help him out in those polls.  Whatever money they are spending on this Report would be better allocated to the existing agencies dealing with the issue on a day to day, and hands on way.  But wait.....it gets better!

Who better (if you want votes) to appoint as the person charged with producing this Report than none other than a fantastic 'Uncle Tom' ~ Quinton Bryce, who has spent the last six+ years swanning around Canberra as GG hosting tea parties and handing out gongs which she did very well indeed.  Let's forget that she is a has been with zero relevant experience in the issue, or of preparing a Report.....and she, for goodness sake......is 71 years old!

What a bloody joke.

For a Councillor who faced him down in the District Court Ipswich , and indeed put him in his place, on the record, during his brief stay as I judge, I be correct!
