So, Newmman has been down in the polls, and today clawed a small bit back according to Rechtel, it seems at the very insignificant expense of PUP.

Not necessarily. What is also possible is that the latest sample of poll respondents had a few more people nominating LNP and a few less nominating PUP from among the available choices. Polls are subject to random variation and it's not possible to tell if this is a real movement from only one sample.

And, also today, Newmman announces there will be a Report to be compiled on an increase in incidents of domestic violence over the last 12 months.

This is a pathetic political move to help him out in those polls.  Whatever money they are spending on this Report would be better allocated to the existing agencies dealing with the issue on a day to day, and hands on way.  But wait.....it gets better!

Who better (if you want votes) to appoint as the person charged with producing this Report than none other than a fantastic 'Uncle Tom' ~ Quinton Bryce, who has spent the last six+ years swanning around Canberra as GG hosting tea parties and handing out gongs which she did very well indeed.  Let's forget that she is a has been with zero relevant experience in the issue, or of preparing a Report.....and she, for goodness sake......is 71 years old!

What a bloody joke.

Link.

It's pretty obvious that Newman's been spooked by the heavy defeat that the LNP have received in the Stafford by-election. Although it is unlikely that the next Queensland state election will have a swing that large, a 10% swing against the government is likely.

Newman holds Ashgrove by only 7%. Recent polling in Ashgrove indicates a swing of 9% and so bears out the prediction that Newman will probably lose his own seat even though the ALP have not even chosen a candidate yet. If the ALP choose well, Newman is doomed to be defeated.

Good to see the LNP and Newman owning up to increasing domestic violence with their sacking so many and making them slap happy because of it!

Latest Galaxy Poll (published in today's Courier Mail) shows Newmann and his LNP sinking further.  (No link possible as the CM will not allow it.)

The most remarkable figure is that concerning preferred Premier with the ALPs Palaszczuk going from an original low of 15% to a current 41% ~ Newmann down 6% in three months to just 42%.

Two Party preferrred has Labor at 48% and LNP at 52% with LNP primary vote down 4% to 39% in three months. ALP primary at 36%.

This is just another brick in the wall, especially given Newmann's quite obvious attempt to appear benign (less confrontational) since the furore involving his political stuffing around with the CMC and the Supreme Court.

PUP consistent at 12%.

Poll Bludger also has the numbers for this poll and does allow links.

newman will lose his seat.
ashgrove is full of white collar public servant types.
its luvvie central.
of course, theres not a person in ashgrove that is an assylum seeker or aborigine (the ashgrovians park all these out of sight in logan) but the ashgrove people are clones of sarah hansen young and david marr.
i was at a dinner party there and some smacking moronic psychologist chick started rabbiting on about terra nullis . i'd love to park 10 aborigines from logan next door to her and see how she fares.
they would appreciate her avacado and pine nut quiche, they're more into KFC.
anyway, i know plenty of people in ashgrove (unfortunately) and newmans gone.

And good riddance. Such filth should not have been elected in the first place.

I know it annoys one or two Members to hear, but I do have a connection of two in the ADF.  I asked a couple why Newmann bailed when he was a Major.  Bastards would not be specific but referred me to what is on the public record.  Bear in mind.....this bloke had Mummy and Daddy in parliamentary political positions, so the ADF would have been coy about not advancing his career.....which flopped at the level of Major after 12 years.

I reckon the little twerp has learned absolutely nothing since he left the Army.

Link.

Quote:
He has been lambasted as the 'Napoleon of City Hall' by his opposition, but it has been revealed Liberal National Party leader Campbell Newman lacked leadership skills as a young army captain.

The LNP has pinned some of its promotion of the former Brisbane lord mayor on his experience as an army major, with the man he ousted as opposition leader John-Paul Langbroek praising his "old military style" in organising Brisbane's flood recovery with "precision".

During his time in the army however, Mr Newman was warned against being an abrasive and distant leader, according to his official military record, obtained by The Australian newspaper under Freedom of Information laws.

His superiors at the Royal Military College questioned his decision-making and inter-personal skills on early postings.

"[LT Newman] occasionally displayed a lack of confidence during field training which manifested itself in a misappreciation of how to tackle a problem," his final report card read.

"This led to poor first attempts; however, he displayed the ability to learn from experience and second attempts invariably showed vast improvement."

Mr Newman declined to comment on the report today.

When he was first recommended for a command position he was found to be needing improvement on "specific, but minor, personal or professional attributes".

Upon his graduation from Duntroon cadet training academy, Mr Newman was warned he "must be careful not to alienate people by being too abrasive" and "must take care not to distance himself too far from his subordinates".

I am aware the Article goes on to quote the then Grigadier Cosgrove, but it is highly pertinent that Cosgrove made those motherhood waffles after Newmann departed and it is arguable he did so to make Mummy and Daddy feel better.

Perhaps the trend line (from Poll Bludger) for opinion polling for Queensland is worth tossing out here. Make of it what you will.

I told you Billy Jack was a clear-headed seer and understood fully the demographics of privilege..

Friends, it made him feel real sick to see them Neo-Soweto Loganites forced into them ghettoes by them 4WD driving Ashgrove high flyers... let me tell you, this just makes the Duke sick to the stomach, and ready to throw a big one their way come next election time!  Nearly booked myself back into that thar hospital when I heard that Campbell still had a 42% favouritism for that premier spot, I was that sick, friends.

ReachTel have released their latest poll for Ashgrove. Newman trails 42-58 on 2PP, with Labor polling a majority on the primary vote.

Newmann is going to lose his seat of Ashgrove even if the LNP win the State election due March or so next year.

Link.

Quote:
Mr Newman holds Ashgrove with a 5.7 per cent margin, but recent polls indicated a significant swing against the Premier.

Back to topic, it's very likely that Newman will lose his seat, and a lot of backbenchers with him. A lot of backbenchers will be starting to get worried because there's no way they will all retain their seats.

I expect backtracking on some more of the controversial decisions of his government to shore up some support. Too little too late.

I still expect the government to win a second term, but not led by Newman.

Yeehah!  PUP gets its act together and there will be a broad Senate Inquiry into Newman's Government.  Report timed to come out just before next year's election.  I'm pleased.  It not only gets right under Newman's skin, it tells Abbott that now he has opened Pandoras Box with his insulation and union Royal Commissions, it is a two way street.

I am also really looking forward to learning what led up to Tim Carmody's appointment as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland when he occupied the low rank as mere Chief Magistrate. His twinkie will be twinking.  Good old Jarrod Bleije and his bikie laws.  Of course, Clive will be after blood on how the Government gave Gina the railway rights from the coal fields to the Port.

Oh, how very jolly it all will be!
