Queensland election 2015: LNP to retain government, ABC Vote Compass survey suggests
Expected seat results (Vote Compass):
LNP 52 (including Ashgrove)
ALP 35
KAP 2

I expect it to be slightly closer than that: LNP 49 seats, ALP 38 (including Ashgrove) KAP 2.

The big poll rush on the eve of the election is just coming through now. All three published polls tonight - reachtell, newspoll and galaxy have it at 52-48 LNP. Galaxy the only one I saw on Ashgrove - Newman behind 55-45.... ouch  Shocked

Almost certainly a new LNP government with no premier...

constitutionally, one of the LNP members who is sitting in a "safe seat" could resign and go to a by election whereby Newman could stand and win the seat and stay the Premier...

that would be funny on so many levels... especially to see how aussie would act...  Grin

Ahh  one of the irrelevant big ignorant mouths return.!! CODS.. I am surprised.  Wink

yeah I'd like to say.. some people, especially those who don't live here, are full of erroneous rubbish about this state.

Mexicans are welcome to their opinions, no matter how gormless, or formless , they are.
Cods,  still not willing to talk to me.?  Obviously not  Smiley,  and why should I be surprised that you think, we here in QLD, should keep Noman ??  Save it for after the election. Your opinion is not relevant as you don't vote in QLD.

how do you work that out you sponging leach... ?  Angry

its because of nincompoops like you that keep voting Labor and hence, keep going further and further into debt that affects other states in Australia..

for instance...

Victoria only gets back 90% of GST because they have to subsidies the halfwit QLDers because they are in massive debt so get 110% of GST revenue..

the federal government should cut funding to QLD and let them sink because they are too greedy and stupid for reform...

the hungry bastards would rather pass on their massive debt to their children... fricken scumbags..  Angry

This is why I expect the election result to be a little closer than the Vote Compass predicts.

Another thing that may cause a few surprises on election night is the widespread use of preference flows from the 2012 election when calculating 2PP by the various pollsters. This is flawed because the various parties are allocating their preferences differently this time.

For example, The Greens had a "just vote 1" campaign in 2012, while this time they are preferencing the ALP second in a large number of winnable seats. Other minor parties are putting the LNP last including PUP (which didn't exist in 2012). The protest vote factor was against the ALP in 2012 and will be against the LNP in 2015.

Any assertion that the preference flows will be identical has nothing to support it but is just a guess.

The 52-48 2PP based on 2012 preferences is therefore a little optimistic for the LNP. If these samples were accurate the actual election result may be closer, perhaps 51-49 or so.

For more detailed analyses, see this post and this post at PollBludger.
