in case you missed it..

So OK the people around the Mary River were badly impacted.  At the time WATER was a major concern here in SEQ.  SO.. we got some rainy yrs.. and Wyaralong Dam went ahead.  It wasn't expected to be filled in years.

BUT, before it was even officially completed, we got BULK RAIN.  IT WAS FULL.    Do you remember?.
Personally I think that is the only reason Logan City wasn't as badly affected byt the flood yrs as was the rest of the greater Sth East, In the nick of time so to speak.

You suggest the measures were unnecessary,  in HINDSIGHT.  Well that 's easy enough,  but not cogent to the matter here and now.

PMT2 you are just a stirrer..  you have nothing but negativity .. poor you. Boo Hoo.

Bring me more rain Mother please.

Good propaganda, Comrade. "Progressive" climate change warriors helped this. Without their scare campaign Qlders would have saved billions. Lucky we didn't. Progress.

Indeed!  During the twelve year drought we suffered here... many governments looked for alternative ways of getting water to the people...

So - when the next twelve year drought cycle comes along.....

Are you still going to criticise desalination and other plants?

During the drought we looked into local history - a friend or two just up the road are descendants of the original settlers here - their family history books show a drought cycle...

Get used to it - this is a country of rain or drought...... and stop criticising governments for trying to ensure water supply to your grand-children...

Good propaganda, Comrade. Should we "progressives" also stop criticising businesses for supplying jobs? I think not - socialism or death! This is progress.

Indeed, indeed! The 'local history' was so accurate that it rained in time to actually stop the desal and dam projects. But we "progressives" got a nice, warm buzz out of spending lots of money. This is progress.

So the next time a flood comes along, you will equally criticise flood mitigation projects?

THIS is progress......

"The main purpose of artificial levees are to prevent flooding of the adjoining countryside and to slow natural course changes in a waterway to provide reliable shipping lanes for maritime commerce over time; they also confine the flow of the river, resulting in higher and faster water flow. Levees can be mainly found along the sea, where dunes are not strong enough, along rivers for protection against high-floods, along lakes or along polders. Furthermore, levees have been built for the purpose of empoldering, or as a boundary for an inundation area. The latter can be a controlled inundation by the military or a measure to prevent inundation of a larger area surrounded by levees. Levees have also been built as field boundaries and as military defences. More on this type of levee can be found in the article on dry-stone walls.

Levees can be permanent earthworks or emergency constructions (often of sandbags) built hastily in a flood emergency. When such an emergency bank is added on top of an existing levee it is known as a cradge"

Good luck, comrade.... your name on the list says 'does not require assistance'....

I reckon PMT 2 could down a bottle of johnny walker red, 10 rohypnols, be water-boarded, sleep deprived for 7 days, have a general anaesthetic and a gun shot wound to the head and he would still whoop your sorry ass in a debate Cheesy Cheesy
