I doubt it. The legal precedent is clear.

If they're seriously considering running a by-election due to the ineligibility of a candidate who only got 800 votes, they are ignoring legal precedent. If the ineligible candidate won the seat, a by-election may be justified, but not in this case when the candidate would be excluded from the count early.

The proper procedure - established by legal precedent - is to exclude the ineligible candidate from the count and then count the rest of the votes. The votes for the ineligible candidate are not informal. They would be distributed in accordance with the other preferences, if any.

Update:

Lockyer: Pauline now 183 votes behind. Makes no real difference to the State outcome as it is held by the LNP. If they lose it, it does relax the numbers at the top.

Maryborough: ALP now 747 ahead. LNP have closed the gap a tad but still likely ALP win.

Mt. Ommaney: ALP 201 behind. Sneaking up, but still a likely LNP hold.

Whitsunday: ALP now 305 behind. Looks more like an LNP hold.

With Wellington it will be an ALP Government....subject to Ferny Grove. On that seat, I agree with Gandalf.

You may want to review the legal precedent. Sykes vs Cleary (1992) paragraph 31 (excerpts quoted):
