Am being refused administrative rights on my PC

This is an ongoing problem with Windows 7 that I never had for 8 years with Windows XP.

"Access Refused"

"You do not have Permission"

etc etc.

'Administrative Tools' in Control Panel has been useless in solving this problem.

Sometimes I get a Dialog Box popping up which asks me ~ as the administrator ~ if a file or application is okay to open.

But for instance, opening the app. 'Peerblock' has the system telling me I don't have permission because I'm not the administrator.

Also, for weeks now my 'Yankee Clipper 3' app's icon refuses to show up in the system tray ~ and then I get a notice saying it's already in the system tray when I try to open it from the desktop.

It may be the way it was set up originally.

Do you boot up as an administrator?

You might have to log out as a user & log on as an administrator.

Unfortunately the Easeus backup has turned out to be nothing but a problem on my PC.

In fact I'll pay for a backup system that actually works as it is supposed to.

Using Microsoft's software maybe the way to go. features depend on your version of W7.

On your access deny issue.

This may or may not help.

You read my mind with PeerBlock. I haven't been able to get it working for ages now. It used to work fine.

AristoKat ~ I'm not all that computer savvy, and probably that's why Easeus is not working as it should do with me.

I'll switching over to Windows7 backup system today. Fingers crossed.

It's not working.

I backed up my PC to an external hard drive last night using the Windows Backup ~ and now it won't open the files.

"Windows not able to open this file type".

Another notice says I don't have permission ...

And then there's a whole lot of crap about 'Windows Virtual PC'.

What is so important on your computer that it needs backing up with a FREE program, every week?

Really IMPORTANT stuff should be printed out, plus backed up. Wink

IF it is your Genealogy stuff .......... Ancestry will keep it FOREVER ...... you will never, ever be able to delete it and a lot of it is VERY incorrect!

You haven't been paying attention.

I only need a full backup of the system and files once every few months against the chance of a crash that needs the hard drive to be wiped clean and the OS etc reinstalled.

My backups in the past have saved me expensive trips to the PC shop for 'clean/installs'.

Needless to say I back up all my important files onto CD disc in multisession mode.

They hardly have any of my ancestry information for the simple reason I wasn't going to duplicate my family chart on their site as information came to hand.

I built up my own chart outside of Ancestry.com.

Their various family chart format options are rubbish. They run them horizontally instead of the time-honoured way of vertically, with the latest generations at the bottom of the tree.
