Garret was a huge disappointment to people like myself.  We had hoped that a vocal activist might put the cat among the pigeons, but he wasn't just a sell-out; he was an abject failure in that regard.  And he was a pretty lousy minister in general as well.

Perhaps future activists might consider adding competence and experience to their CV before diving into the fray.

Thats rubbish.  Activists do bugger all except make noise.  To make any real change, you need to join the system and work piece, by small piece, to make change.

Anyone disappointed by Garrett expecting him to be an activists once in government is a fool.

You need to need to work within the system while not becoming a part of the system's values.  He was a disappointment because he achieved next to nothing.  That massive-ego Rudd was probably the biggest problem, but it remains true that Garrett achieved very, very little for the environment and there are many coalition Environment ministers who have done far more which is not a great statement in his support.

Which coalition env ministers have achieved.. anything for the environment ?

Hunt is actively working against it.

I would go so far as to say the Rudd/Gillard government was the single most environmentally friendly government we have ever had, and althrough Garrett was only a bit player and that, who knows what influence he had behind the scenes.

They have already been arrested, charged & probably have served their time.

I know & agree, corporate crime does pay rather handsomely, murder someone through negligence & only receive fines or short minimum security sentences, you get longer for killing someone in a car accident.

how about sending me the list that went to JAIL... I would like to see those familes get it..

and you can bury these young men in your dustbin you call a mind if you choose...

but we are not all like you thank god.. some of us care and some of us want justice...

some nasty has mentioned THOMO well at least he didnt KILL anyone.. but again your think 3 months detention is good enough.. in fact you hope he will win his appeal...and get a huge hand out for all the trouble he has been put through..

we know how your minds work..

from the gutter.

Credit where credit is due.

Well done Peter Garrett on your quest to protect whales in the antarctic waters.

I am sure the parents of the 4 young men that died in roof cavities will agree with you.

You are a boring broken record.

What are you going to do if the RC doesn't give you the outcome you continue to search for?

so you and sob dont like anyone remembering those 4 YOUNG MEN do you... despicable..

I do NOT APOLOGISE FOR REMEMBERING THEM>>>

you people would liove it all to go away be swept under the carpet in the usual LEFTY FASHION...see no evil hear no evil speak no evil.......yeah right.

'WHAT ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU [who pretend it never happened]GOING TO DO WHEN THEY HANG THE BLAME WHERE IT TRULY BELONGS..ROUND THE NECK OF THOSE THAT WERE IN CHARGE..

This is such a stupid point of view.  Plenty of people die every year on government worksites or under government contracts.   Plenty get killed by wars our governments get led into.

OK,....WHICH GOVT WORKSITES DO YOU HAVE IN MIND...

WAR IS WAR... AND PEOPLE THAT GET SENT TO WAR...

ARE FULLY TRAINED AND KNOW WHAT THEY SIGN UP FOR...

As the fire data shows, 4 may have died, 40 were probably saved.

Either way, inconsequential compared to other deaths.

WELL NOW WE DO KNOW WHERE THE LEFT REALLY COMES FROM...

OK ... SHRUG SHOULDERS.. MOVE ON FAMILIES

LABOR ... DONT CARE.... ITS THAT SIMPLE...

IF YOU WORK FOR A LABOR GOVT... THEN DONT EXPECT THEM TO GIVE A STUFF IF YOU DIE....

AINT NOTHIN TO DO WITH THEM..

treat it the same way as being hit by a falling tree the greens refuse to let you have removed...

ITS LIFE>> AND DEATH >> LEFT WAY.
