Debating 101. I began with the well-established de facto position. You are the interloper claiming it is wrong. You are required by any rules of reasonable debate to substantiate your claim in at least prima facie fashion to avoid pointless argument of the already proven.

Incorrect.

You are claiming that Jesus Christ was a real person.

Now, you need to substantiate that claim.

Good luck with that, by the way.

From post two on this thread

greggerypeccary wrote on Apr 1st, 2014 at 11:34am:
There are some so gullible, that they believe Jesus Christ actually existed 2000 years ago.

Not only that, they also believe that he rose from the dead.

Yeah, I know!  Pretty gullible, huh?   Roll Eyes

You claimed Jesus was not real. Until this point in the discussion no one had actually claimed that he was. The onus is on you to back up your claim.

If someone enters a thread and from post 2 claims that Plato was not a real person, then the onus is on them to back it up.

He actually went as far as saying "His existence is beyond doubt."

Beyond doubt.

He then followed it up with "There is far more evidence for Jesus' existence than most figures of antiquity."

A mighty big call.

Nothing to substantiate this claim, by the way, but still ... a mighty big call.

The irony is just wonderful.

I won't be letting Quantum forget this one for a long time.

(I may write a review about it, on Amazon.com)

Nice try, but it is I that won't be letting you forget about this.

You are like a school kid who has been busted and now can't wipe the grin off his face because he is embarrassed.

You said you don't write book reviews for amazon. Yet I quoted another post where you not only claim to, but actually gave your user name for amazon proving that you do.

You claimed that you don't work for the government. Yet in your amazon account it says you work for the government.

Spin it all you want, but you're a liar one way or the other, and you have been caught.

His existence is beyond doubt. There is far more evidence for Jesus' existence than most figures of antiquity.  But feel free to cling to your delusion if you must.

ohh, I can't wait ... please share this evidence?

Show me the proof of Plato's existence and you are on. But remember that any of his writings and those of his contemporaries are all 'lies' and will not be accepted as evidence. I am just pre-empting the usual tactics.

I await your brilliance and I say that with all the irony I can muster.

Existence beyond doubt?
Hardly.

Far more evidence?
The Jesus character is said to have lived in a time that was hardly illiterate, so being the superstar he's said to have been you'd think there would be hundreds of contemporary accounts of him, wouldn't you?

Alas, nup. All there is, is the single, solitary Josephus account and that's now disputed. The rest were all written after the supposed death of the Jesus character - and as such, they wouldn't stand up in court as evidence.

And he is a terrible debater as well.  Cannot prove his own statement is one thing, but being unwilling to do so is just cowardly.

You honestly believe that my surname is Peccary, don't you?

I bet you think my first name is Greg too.

You're one in a million.

(If it's on the internet, it must be true)   Grin

I'm going to enjoy reminding you of this day.

Some people are so gullible they believe Greggery does a real job for a living. In reality, his spends all his days writing trolling post on forums and reading Doctor Who books so as to leave his opinion on Amazon. That is of course when he is not begging people to let him do them up the arse.

How many Doctor Who books you up to now you tax dollar stealing bastard? 300? 350?

Nothing but Spot of Borg mark II.

I'll let the mods sort that one.

You work for the government yet all you do is post here all day and read Doctor Who books. As I said; tax dollar stealing bastard.

As for the begging up the arse, well you have claimed that is what you do with your women.
They offer you pussy, you ask for arse
.

If you put this information on the forum, don't complain to the mods when it gets quoted back at you.

I'll let the mods deal with you.

In a legal situation where innocence is assumed, 'absence of evidence; is in fact, evidence.

IN a debate such as this one, the significant long-held assumption from history etc is that Jesus existed and is an assumption that has been held since the first century. It is not a recent thing. The onus is therefore on the 'prosecution' to establish otherwise and the absence of evidence is in fact, evidence.

It is not that hard.
