MORE alp corruption ?
Apr 5th, 2014 at 5:26pm

Quote:
FORMER NSW Labor powerbroker and senator Mark Arbib was paid more than $60,000 by the now jailed Health Services Union boss Michael Williamson for a six-month consultancy between leaving his job as the party’s state secretary and taking a seat in federal parliament.

Williamson authorised the payment of four cheques to Mr Arbib totalling $61,600 when he employed him between January 2008 and July that year.

So according to Sprint, $60 000 for 6 months consultancy is some sort of evidence of corruption, but Sinidosis getting $200 000 for 100 hrs of work is legit?

Poor little Sprinty is working himself into a lather again.

Just be thankful that this time it's not over photos of Mr Abbott in his speedos.

$200,000 for 100 hours is only $2k per hour charge out rate.
Might sound a lot sometimes but market rate consulting can be double that.

$2k per hour isn't that much more than my dad's rate and his is simple simulator pilot training.
So a senior politician is probably about right.

QCs charge double that and if they kept your butt out of a long jail sentence, they would certainly be worth it.

I was commenting on what they're worth, not what they charge.

And as I have no plans for even a short jail sentence, your second point is moot.

Its subjective actually.

Many years back I worked in Finance for a Consulting company and the VP rate was not far off $2k and that was a decade ago. Lord only know what it is now - I guess $3k plus.

When you consider the projects they work on (mergers of Exxon and Mobil, Glaxo and Smithkline etc) and the billions in revenue that is consolidated and added - their rate becomes a drop in the ocean Kat.

It's all relative. $2k is really bugger all in the scheme of things these days.

Eg our corp policy is anything under $5,000 is too insignificant to be capitalized on our balance sheet and just gets written off.

I should have included the notion of being charged for instance with murder when you are actually innocent. You might not plan for a jail sentence but then again, who does?

Do you still think they are paid more than they are worth if they keep you out of Long Bay Jail for 30 years?

About 15 years ago I was earning $150Kpa and my mother made the same unwelcome comment that ' no one is worth that kind of money'.

Did wonders for our relationship!

Yeas I do (in the broad sense of this discussion) ~  that combined with 33 years of experience.

You made the claim that QCs charge $4K per hour.  I thought I'd make the effort to show you how absurd that claim is.

Perhaps you can back your claim up with a link?

I'd state again its all subjective and you can't say 'A QC costs this....' - because my answer is 'what QC?'

You reckon George Carmen's services were $2k? And the rest..
