A shirtless Bruce McAvaney interrupts Hawks’ halftime meeting to interview Rioli

At halftime of tonight’s match between Hawthorn and St Kilda, Channel 7 commentator Bruce McAvaney went down to Hawthorn’s change room and burst into the meeting area, half-naked, demanding to interview Cyril Rioli.

Hawthorn assistant coach Brett Ratten told reporters that McAvaney had to be forcibly removed from the rooms. “He wouldn’t take no for an answer,” said Ratten. “He was screaming, demanding to see Cyril and said that he wouldn’t leave until they could have a chat or at the very least until we let him smell Cyril’s neck.”

McAvaney then proceeded to play the media card. “He was furious and shouted that the media pay our salary so we have to agree to all interviews. Although, I think there is a clause in there that allows you turn down an interview when the media person, Bruce in this case, is shirtless and crying.”

At press time, McAvaney could not be reached for comment as he was busy being questioned by police.
