Good thinking.  I'll try it tonight when I hit the bar

I'll get back to you with the results.

FD what's your opinion on having the call to prayer on public airways?

What if (say) SBS decided to broadcast it daily at maghrib time this ramadan?

It's a vexed question, as they say.

It will all lead to the dividing of society into two major cultural groups defined as Muslim, and non-Muslim.

I've heard enough from Christian Lebanese workmates during my life-time to know this is a recipe for creating a situation in which a nation becomes irreparably divided against itself.

I'll ignore the gibberish and say that it wouldn't bother me today if it was on a private channel. I don't think government run TV stations should be promoting religion. It violates the principle of separation of church and state.

You really do promote such 'conservative' views, FD!       Smiley

The argument that would float, is, if the SBS would choose to broadcast the call to prayer during Ramadan, it [the SBS] would be promoting inter-cultural understanding, and exposing the Australian community to a broader understanding of ISLAM and its culture.

Thereby promoting inter-cultural harmony and inter-cultural tolerance.

And always remember FD;

The very meaning of the word 'ISLAM' is peace!!!

ISLAM promotes peace and harmony.         Tongue

I know, it’s ridiculous. Look at all the peace and harmony we show them, only to have it thrown back in our faces, time and time again. We try so hard to be nice, and look what we get.

Sprint’s psychologist blames Islam. Well, he blames alienation, but it’s the same thing.

How could we possible broadcast these people on our airwaves?

Exactly. You know what they’re doing? They’re trying to hypnotise us. It’s why there’s an epidemic of behavioural problems with troubled children these days. Sprint’s psychologist blames Islam.

Along with his morning spells, your Moslem uses his poisoned food. Everything these days is Halal - Halal this, Halal that, it’s ridiculous. Anyone who eats this is likely to come down with some form of Moslem thinking and behaviour. Have you seen how many men have grown those Moslem beards these days? It’s awful. Have you seen how many women have mustaches?

No, I blame Islam. Something needs to be done about this.

Amerikan English, yes.

FD’s a Mormon, you see. We don’t always see eye to eye on matters of scripture, but when it comes to the Muselman, we think as one.

We blame Islam for everything.

I think they do it through sound vibrations and the like. Your Moslem hears this spell and he’s off to his sinister mosque without even thinking. Sprint’s psychologist blames pavlova. You know, they salivate because they want to eat some cake or something.

Personally, I blame Islam. Fancy having to hypnotize people to get them into the mosque to make bombs and the like. Why can’t they just tell them to come instead? Why do these people have to make such a song and a dance out of everything?

Do these British TVs, without "off" buttons, cost less than regular TVs?
