well Aussie I also was in melbourne at that time of MY life.

I had a friend.. OK?  who went to school with her.  Her observation.. as an adult looking back.. was she needed attention.. she needed to be loved..  who knows why we have these sorts of needs.???  . but its unfair to presume you have any idea why this was so...

This is nothing but a smear on the character of a person.. whom ..you said.. pretty well everyone in Australia 'knew'.

Get out of it DOG.

Walk a mile in HER SHOES.. then you may have some credibility.

As it stands.. all you gossiping scumbags ought hide your heads in SHAME.

Gawd....you are taking it right over the top aren't you?  The Lady had a very troubled teen and later years, and some of it was her own making.  She made headlines for having consensual sex at 13 with a 24 year old bloke in the YTT crew ~ he was convicted eventually on a plea of guilty of unlawful carnal knowledge (not rape, as we know that to usually mean, as the act was with her consent) yet ~ the reference now to it misleadingly is that someone had been convicted of raping her.

The Lady is an enigma, an outstanding talent lost somehow after years of alcohol and heroine abuse, and suddenly, out of nowhere, she reappears ~ and of all places ~ on Facebook, instead of taking it to Police, she makes these allegations concerning  events which allegedly occurred about 40 years ago.

Those are facts Emma, no interpretation, and I have no need to walk her shoes.  I am not condemning the woman.  I am reminding myself of the facts.

As his lawyers are applying to be able to appeal, I think he should be given another five years if his application is rejected, which I imagine it will be.

I like that idea.

This endless 'appeals' strategy that sees so many convictions being tossed aside for yet another punt at trying to get an 'innocent' verdict ~ needs new legislation to crack down hard on this extravagant nonsense.

They should also legislate to have those who plead 'innocent' ~ and who are found guilty ~ get an added 25% jail time.

And those who try to do a runner on police and highway cops who tell them to stop where they are ~ should also get an added 25% 'bonus' on their jail time.

And no early paroling. None at all.

And definitely no priests, homosexuals, or women on the parole boards.

This is taken from the link up there ^^^^.

Quote:
"I was a very disturbed girl and was abused I believe because I was considered fair game."

Now, Emma....what follows is an interpretation, not necessarily mine but it is quite open as totally plausible.

"No Debra.....I had no idea you were disturbed in any way.  I was not abusing you at all.  I was doing exactly what you specifically invited me to do.  Yes, you were youngish of age, but you were very advanced physically and in knowledge and willingness."

Those were the early 70s when unlawful carnal knowledge was a $100.00 fine any day of the week before Shanahan DCJ, Rockhampton, and in every part of the State of Queensland.

Well.....waddayareckon?

Link.

It is an understatement that this Lady, in her teens and on, was a very troubled person, with many issues.  She could sing for sure.  I grew up in that era......and it seemed to be common knowledge around Australia that she like the boys a lot.

AUSSIE.. this post of yours...is shameful. Seems you are the type who will always blame the woman.  Gossip such as this that you post here is despicable.

Your chosen interpretation of Ms Byrne's actions are so one-eyed as to be a sad JOKE.

No hint of blaming the WOMAN there, Emma - Aussie is merely pointing out that the lady, by her own admission, has suffered a lot of alcohol and drug abuse, which renders her memories and motivations suspect.  These problems are not only the province of the abused - and drug abuse is notorious in those who have fame etc, and is often part of the scene.

I used to be a pro actor - I know a few bodies burial places and stories that get around.  It is a truly amazing business in which many 'peccadilloes' are simply glossed over in the interest of creating the product - whether it be music or film or whatever.

Crews etc separate the two, job and insider knowledge of faults - it means their career if they speak out..
trust me on this
.

Is he ?..  it seemed more pejorative than 'mere' commentary.

Peccadilloes..?  That is a male perspective.. no offense.

Trust you .. yes I do .. I imagine you have knowledge..

but  AUSSIE  doesn't need your brotherly support.
He needs to think about where his comments come from.. and WHY they should be posted.

Aussie... I think the references to Ms Byrne ... IRRELEVANT. Gnads is a gnat....  I think nothing of his opinions.. but yours..  I'd like to respect.  YOU KNOW the FACTS,..??
Impossible.. but you think you know the BUZZ.

What is the connection??  to ROLF HARRIS in JAIL..?

Nothing I can see... except..  perhaps the need to denigrate those who come forward... after too long... in your view.

What else??  why bring this up??
What is your reason?

I remember she was into heroin as a young girl, and as a result she would have been 'fair game' for a few dollars to help pay for her addiction.

I very much doubt that anyone raped her, but I do believe her digitally-raped story.

I think she's now trying to sanitise her memory of being a little slut for the needle, and it's all someone else's fault, and she was just an innocent victim.

Pull the other one sweetheart ~ it's got bells on it.

The reason is simple ~ if Debra gets traction on this at 57 years of age, some bastard, 40 years since an event likely involving pubescent consent, is going to have his life turned upside down as a consequence of allegations made by a Lady who really, by her own admission, was a very disturbed person, one who became addicted to alcohol and heroine, and one, despite enormous talent, became as mundane as the rest of us.  On top of all that, one must conject about her motive, particularly since, instead of going to the Police, she went to Face Book.  There are some analogies to the Rolf Harris sorry saga.

Of course you can.

It's happening all over the world.

Underaged 'consensual sex' is happening in every city, town, village, and hamlet on this planet.

Yeas you can.  There was an epidemic of it in the 60/70s.  It was illegal, just like booze was during prohibition, and the offence committed was one of having unlawful carnal knowledge ~ NOT rape.  The penalty was a $100.00 fine  with as much time as you needed to pay.  That's simply how it was Emma, whether you like it or not.

Ask Normie Rowe, one to whom Debra looked up.

Not a good answer Aussie

I thought you were about Law...

Herbie says

"Of course you can.

It's happening all over the world.

Underaged 'consensual sex' is happening in every city, town, village, and hamlet on this planet."

That's simply how it was Emma, whether you like it or not.

In a darker more ignorant time.  believe it not retros..
.AND I LIKE IT NOT.

women have equality...in Law at least.. in some areas at least...  today.
fight it as you like... we will... get over the OLD DAYS,,,, they are GONE,,, but you nothing to fear fellas...

and I'll stand for the right of women against any denigrating belittling, besmirching, un-emanicipated male certainty .. you want to say this is just the way it was.. yet you want to make it the way it IS NOW..  ???

Excuses excuses... time for real partisan connection between male and female.. you're saying.. oh well thats the way of life ..is OUTDATED,... comprende?
