Weren't you lefties screeching about "teh middle class welfare" not that long ago? You think that a family on $150K should have a govt handout?

As much as I would appreciate the money, the answer would have to be no.

The overwhelming majority of financial experts say there is no budget emergency. The only people saying it are the government and the stupid people that believe the government, which is shrinking by the day to now comprising just the pure stupid rusted ons of around 45% TPP.

List the experts Skip and they can join the ranks of the deluded?

Then read this.

http://archive.treasury.gov.au/igr/igr2010/Overview/html/overview_04.htm

Quote:
In 2010, there will be an estimated 5 people of traditional working age for every person aged 65 and over.

By 2050 only 2.7 people of traditional working age are projected for every person aged 65 and over.

This results in lower future work force participation rates, and therefore slower future rates of economic growth.

At the same time, an ageing population will place greater demands on government services.

That is a 'serious' budget emergency.

Especially if you have young kids. By the time they are in their mid-twenties they will have to be paying double the marginal tax rates we today (that'll be 60% +  Shocked) just to maintain the current level of social welfare and social security.

If the budget emergency had teeth it would bite you and your so-called financial experts on the Rs... Grin

And this is the problem.

Even blind Freddy knows the budget couldn't continue on the path the ALP had it on.

But the libs have buggered it up so badly now the ALP can just focus on Abbott and hope everyone fogets what retards they were.

Both parties are extreme, but in opposite directions. Howard started this welfare binge; Gillard wasn't strong enough to curtail it, but Abbott has gone totally in the other direction.

His slashing technique is going to stuff up the economy. Purse strings are already being tightened in preparation and consumer confidence is starting to spiral downwards. It had started to improve considerably before Abbott came to power.

Really? Extreme? In opposite directions?

Seriously. Neither of these things are true. They are the mainstream parties and largely agree on policy. It's only in the details where they differ. The Socialist Alliance is extreme, The Australian Protectionist Party is extreme.

The ALP focus more of social programs, the Coalition more on business.

The "welfare binge" is due primarily to an aging population.

Say what you’ll do and do what you say, that’s Mr Abbott’s motto.

What a tall glass of water.

no, but how does giving someone on that $50 000 to have a baby help things?

Whatabout your hero Wayne Swan.  He identified it, commissioned reports on it, and did effall about it.  Grin  (except to make it worse)

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2010-02-01/ageing-population-dragging-australia-into-...
Quote:
WAYNE SWAN FEB 2010
This means that 2050 government spending will outstrip revenue by 2.75 per cent of GDP, with half of all government spending going towards health care, aged pensions and aged care.

At present around a quarter of Government spending is on health.

If nothing is done to close the "fiscal gap", Australia's net debt will hit 20 per cent of GDP and the Budget would be in deficit by 3.75 per cent by 2050.

That is in comparison to the latest Budget projections that put the net debt peaking at 13 per cent in 2013.

The report also predicts that while living standards will still rise, they will do so at a slower rate than the past 40 years, with just 2.7 people working to support the costs of older Australians compared to five to one now.

Mr Swan told the National Press Club that if action is taken now it will avoid harsher adjustments in the future. Shocked

Yep its all the fault of us oldies who have paid taxes all our lives.  Its our fault that we subsidised Medicare and kept you well.  Its our fault that we looked after our kids and grandkids while you selfishly went to work to buy a home.  Its out fault that our taxes went to paying pensions for our parents and grandparents.

We are so damn selfish to expect a thing from this generation!
