Thank God the Navy doesn't do "affirmative action" or else we may see submarines bring driven into the sea bed all too often! Ok, very unlikely, but I'm a firm believer that the best person for the job should get it & whether the pee sitting or standing should be irrelevant.
As am I... the best person for the job is the answer - not this artificial numbers thing. Utter nonsense. You need only look at the public service these days to see the results - Fer Dog's Sake - you can do a course on how to interview for the Army.... now WTH sort of message does that send?
a. We are incapable of seeing what is in front of us
b. Our judgement has been coloured by political correctness
c. We are unaware that real ability always defeats good interviewing skills.
d. We've lost the plot
e. We'll send the interview best up to negotiate with the enemy.
Sorry, lads - I'm accustomed to interviews with a couple of officers (4RAR - now 2 Commando) and being slotted for one man ops..... without any hesitation.... I work better alone anyway....
Once were warriors..... now every ad has about 70% women - and I recall the Navy's 100th Anniversary coverage by the ABC - they interviewed not one man sailor.... every interview was with a woman....yet not one woman has died on naval combat operations.... while many hundreds of men have......
This is just PC gone mad..... AA is a false god that will lead to unwarranted deaths and injuries WHEN the Next Big One comes along.. in my lifetime - and I'm now 65....
I have nothing against women in the armed forces - they do a fine job - but the reality is, to coin that phrase again - where the metal meets the meat.
