I agree with sprint to some degree here - and say the same with this lot . they are spending all their efforts trying to 'sell' their budget - a forlorn hope - instead of actually running the country for its people.
Better to come out and say - OK - you lot don't want this - let us take a look at it without our commission of idiots and get back to you.
They should always have had a backup plan in place - not just some thrust to the heart and then a refusal to back down when challenged over it.
Shows the paucity of government here.. no planning and lot of rhetoric.
yes, the talk about 'selling a budget' is wasted effort.
Lay down the budget, let the public and chat rooms say whatever they want. Budgets are not set down by twitter feeds.
See how it goes through parliament, that is how budgets proceed.
I don't think this govt has put big resources into selling it. they shouldn't. Lots of people dislike it, that's how it is.
We have a debt and deficit to wrestle with.
I think the question is how to go about dealing with debt and deficit - not always bad things in themselves - every household has them, and it depends on the balance between debt and income. Sensible government organises that in advance, same as sensible households..... which latter, by the way, fund their own breeding programs....
I prefer generating genuine prosperity with genuine forward-looking policies - re-development of genuine industrial base and farming etc - government here either prefer to push their ideology or put their fingers in the dyke of cash (nasty budgets, banana republicanism with resources etc) without materially altering one substantial thing that affects revenue and outgo.
Someone posted figures that showed the net effect of this Budget of Evil was the same as not having it at all.
Paying Richie to rob Poor will never work.. nor should it. These are not the medieval days of the lord in the castle....
Hang 'em and hang 'em high! After a fair trial, of course.
