What has become of this country that our politics can only now be PG13+? 

I couldn't believe reports 2 months ago (now) that people were proud to call the March in May protests a "family day outing."  NO!  Protests are MEANT to show the force of the people, the anger of the people! They aren't meant to be for people to sit down, grab a balloon for the kid, have a barbecue and play with the dog.  If you want that, go to a park!

And now this:

This fantastic metaphor on the actions of Tony Abbott has been withdrawn because it was seen as "too violent." The very "man" himself, Tony, suggests that it would lead to violence.

Clearly, the image is meant to be a metaphor, but let me say this: I am disgusted by the left for standing down. This imbecile has:
1. Placed a razor against the throats of our weakest, our pensioners, our unemployed, our disabled
2. Broken international laws and is now reportedly sending asylum seekers back to their country of persecution WITHOUT assessment.
3. Tried to break apart organised workforces, and is continuing to try.
4. Wants to destroy our environment
5. Has gagged debate, and is now looking at NSA style surveillance laws

Yet, with the absolute bullsh1t that has gone on over the past 12 months, that would make ANY left wing ideologue absolutely throw up, and any extremist right wing nutjob jump for joy, what do we, from the left do? We go on "Family day outs" and remove metaphorical imagery becuase it is seen is too violent.

This is why the left will never win.  It is no longer about fair play to spread your message. That went when people like Bolt, Jones, Tony, Albrechtsen got into the arena. And that's why they'll win, because they'll punch whatever is necessary to punch while the left has been taken over by people too scared to offend anyone.

But you're right, it really does feel like that. Somehow we are being transformed into a people that are ACTUALLY discussing whether it's fair if pensioners lose money out of their pocket, or if our sickest ought to pay to see the doctor, and into a people that are ACTUALLY asking the government to be even MORE ruthless with asylum seekers (although no one dare suggest our basic human rights are violated because we can all be bigots), and the people that used to rise up and fight this disgrace are now worrying about if a picture may offend someone.  Oh Noes! It offended Tony. Quick, take it off, how dare we!  He offends me every day he opens his mouth, does that mean I get to have him staple his mouth shut?
