Usage note In reference to low intellectual ability, the terms retarded, retardation, and mental retardation are now usually perceived as insulting. There are several acceptable alternatives. In general, someone with a mental, physical, or emotional disability may be described as developmentally disabled, or as a person with a developmental disability.
The word retard of itself is basically and broadly offensive. I trust that none of your family members suffer any kind of social, emotional, physical, mental or developmental disability. IF they do, please bare in mind you most likely hung more poo on them than your intended target.
Likewise, others using the forum may have family members likewise effected. Generally, these forms of disability are either birth (Genetically) related of through accidental injury. As such, it would seem wholly inappropriate to further belittle such people.
Given your strong demonstrated strong stance on people posting offensive rubbish in a thread - it seems to be self defeating to use equally offensive terms of abuse towards people whose posts apparently are, at some level at least, offensive to you.
In short, I respectfully request that you reconsider your use of said derogatory term that affects more unintended victims than the targets of your complaint.
