Waitress eats cockroach in diner's food
Jul 17th, 2014 at 10:38am

A Chinese diner was shocked to find a cockroach in his salad but was even more blown away when the waitress he complained to said it was "very normal" and devoured the bug to prove it was safe.

Businessman Zhang Yen made the stomach-turning discovery at the Jinsha Era Plaza hotel restaurant in the western Chinese city of Chengdu, Metro reports.

When the diner told his 39-year-old waitress about the extremely fresh but unwanted side dish she reportedly failed to see what the big deal was.

The waitress reportedly told him that bugs turned up in salads all the time.

"No matter which restaurant you go to, you will always find cockroaches in the food," she is quoted as saying.

"It is very normal."

Well its no wonder food hygiene has been a problem here in Sydney. The chinks think its normal to be unhygienic.

So if you find a cockroach in your noodle dish don't worry its just one of those wonders of diversity we've heard so much about.

Lets go through the problems associated with this post and the assertion you're making.

1. Is there a problem with food safety in NSW? You havent shown that
2. This case is in China, not NSW
3. We have far different and far more stringent food safety regulations in NSW
4. Even though this was in China, the Chinese diner was horrified, indicating that even this type of thing is considered abnormal even by Chinese standards.
5. This case is in China, not NSW. Now technically I know thats the same as point no. 2, but I thought it important enough and so blaringly obvious that you missed this Taipan, that I thought it worthy of mention again.

In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

No evidence whatsoever it can be attributed to George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (in fact the same guy)

Greggery, no need to be so pedantic.

It's close enough. Smiley

But the moral of the story is that even in Chengdu the diners don't like it, and eating cockroaches in a restaurant is a big enough deal to be newsworthy.

There was an article in the paper recently about an Australian diner finding a live cockroach crawling out of her risotto. It was in Brisbane I think.

To be fair, rissotto is one of the hardest dishes to get 'just right'.

Many chefs undercook it.
