So Israel pulled out of Gaza completely - to suppress the Palestinian.

Israel doesn't care about gaza - strategically its a non-entity for them - which is why they withdrew the settlements from it. The long term strategic aims of the Israelis are in the West Bank - the only place a viable Palestinian state can be established. That is why they are busily carving up the WB into discontiguous bantustans - using settlements as the tool (once settlements are established they become part of Israeli sovereign territory). Unfortunately for the Palestinians and their aspirations for independence, the WB leadership is largely compliant and has offered no meaningful resistance to the Israelis systematically carving up their future state.

Which bring us back to gaza. This represents the only real resistance to Israeli occupation and oppression, and while it continues, it serves to remind the world that there are some serious and legitimate grievances of the Palestinians. Israelis are of course happy that the WB Palestinians are mostly compliant, but they are being thwarted somewhat by a non-compliant gaza. They just want them to shut up and stop highlighting the issue of the unjust and unlawful occupation. So every now and then this non-compliance has to be dealt with - and with no collateral damage to worry about in terms of Israeli settlers or other Israeli personnel, it just becomes a case of shooting fish in a barrel. Israel has openly acknowledged that this is only a temporary fix - the cycle seems set at about 2-3 years - slaughter a few hundred Palestinians, stop the rockets, and continue carving up the WB in peace. Rince and repeat - presumably indefinitely.

metal_j,

Hamas don't care how many Gazan children die every hour.

metal_j,

And if Israel - unilaterally - stop bombarding Hamas in Gaza, the rockets from Gaza - targeting Israeli cities and town - will still continue.

metal_j,

It is Hamas, that [reportedly] have their headquarters in the basement of a major Gaza hospital.

And it is Hamas, that [reportedly] are storing rockets and other weapons in some U.N. schools in Gaza - which is where Gazan civilians are being 'evacuated' to.

Israel violates international laws under US aegis: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Jamal Wakim, from the Lebanese International University from Beirut, about at least 30 Israeli soldiers disobeying orders to be deployed to the Gaza Strip, where Tel Aviv is involved in a bloody offensive.

What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Mr. Wakim, let’s start off with the news that we just reported that around 30 Israelis have disobeyed orders to deploy to the Gaza Strip. What could be the main factor leading in this mutiny?

Could it be coupled, apart from the Israeli death toll, could it be coupled with the high level of international awareness that the Israelis are in fact committing war crimes and genocide against the Palestinians?

Wakim: I believe that the reason for this mutiny is, has various reasons. One of them is the fear of these soldiers to be killed or captured in battle against the Palestinian resistance and on the other hand of course this global wave of criticism to Israel and accusations to Israel of committing genocide makes the soldiers fear to be indicted in other countries in case they participate in the battle in Gaza.

So I believe that these are the reasons behind this mutiny.

Press TV: Well midst this international awareness and protest against the Israeli onslaught, how do you explain the Israelis total and complete defiance and disregard for international calls to halt the attacks and also complete disregard for international law as the death toll of civilians continue to rise and most alarming is the that fact that how many of those killed have been children?

Wakim: I believe that Israel has used to disregard all criticism by the international community due to the unconditional support that it has from the United States of America and from other Western European countries.

So whenever there was a potential or a possibility that the United Nations would issue a resolution against Israel, the United States would intervene and block it by its veto. So this gave Israel the freedom to act unhindered by international law or by criticism directed against it by the international community, so that is why I believe that Israel will continue its assault on Gaza until it is forced mainly by the resistance to stop the attack when it injures heavy losses at the hands of the Palestinian resistance.

Otherwise I do not believe that Israel will be hindered by any other pressure by the international community and even if this issue is led to the United Nations, I believe that the United States will intervene on behalf of Israel and block any UN resolution that criticizes Israel.

So we need to wait and see. I believe that the onslaught on Gaza will continue for another week...

UN Says Israel Airstrikes in Gaza May Violate International Law

GENEVA—Israel’s air campaign in Gaza may violate international laws prohibiting the targeting of civilians, the U.N.’s top human rights official said Friday.

Navi Pillay, the U.N. high commissioner for human rights, said the Israeli military...must abide by international law.

“We have received deeply disturbing reports that many of the civilian casualties, including of children, occurred as a result of strikes on homes,” Pillay said. “Such reports raise serious doubt about whether the Israeli strikes have been in accordance with international humanitarian law and international human rights law.”

Pillay says she’s seen for herself in Gaza how traumatic the airstrikes and rocket attacks are for civilians, particularly children. Her office says civilians bear the brunt of the conflict now — and all sides must refrain from launching attacks...

UN rights boss doubts legality of Israel's Gaza offensive

The United Nations human rights chief on Friday voiced serious doubts that Israeli's military operation against Gaza complied with international law banning the targeting of civilians, and called on both sides to respect the rules of war.

International law requires Israel to take all measures to ensure that its attacks are proportional, distinguish between military and civilian objects, and avoid civilian casualties, U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said.

"We have received deeply disturbing reports that many of the civilian casualties, including of children, occurred as a result of strikes on homes. Such reports raise serious doubt about whether the Israeli strikes have been in accordance with international humanitarian law and international human rights law," Pillay said in a statement...

...Targeting civilian homes violates international humanitarian law unless the homes are being used for military purposes, said Pillay, a former U.N. war crimes judge.

"In case of doubt, buildings ordinarily used for civilian purposes, such as homes, are presumed not to be legitimate military targets. Even where a home is identified as being used for military purposes, any attack must be proportionate, offer a definite military advantage in the prevailing circumstances at the time, and precautions must be taken," she said.

Her spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani, speaking at a news briefing in Geneva, said: "So if there is even an iota of doubt, these are not legitimate military targets."...

Pillay, who visited Gaza and Israel in 2011, said...that Israeli forces had committed crimes against humanity....

..."Our aid workers on the ground report that people in Gaza are gripped by fear, the streets are empty and the shops are closed."...

U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, is an evil witch [imo], who's actions [in 'looking the other away'] are facilitating hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of murder and human rights atrocities and violations around the world.

God damn her.

When was the last time that Navi Pillay - and her ilk - went to, e.g. Nigeria to interview the victims of Boko Haram, and to other such places, where local moslems are committing atrocities ?

Because the fact is that - wherever in the world you may go - moslems - who are committing atrocities, are unrestrained by the U.N. High Commission for Human Rights.

Why is that ?

In the last cease fire of november 2012, hamas stopped there rocket attacks and what did israel do, they kept bombing and killing the gazan people.

All this rocket attack propaganda is rubbish, israel is a terrorist virus, a cancer in the middle east who is stealing palestinian land.

I got banned from few zionists facebook pages cause of my pro palestinian stance, and they call israel a democracy.

And in 2008, before cast lead, there was a very effective cease fire going on. Hamas had all but stopped the rockets and was imprisoning militants who fired any. Apparently this was a bit awkward for Israel - who then launched an unprovoked attack, and surprise surprise the rockets resumed - culminating in cast lead - and about 1400 dead palestinians.

Sounds familiar gandalf, there was a very good graph from the ceasefire from few years ago that showed hamas had stopped firing rockets but the terrorist jews led us to beleive that hamas started the violence by firing rockets.

The End of Israel

Jews reading there terrorist book before they massacre palestinians

...

By Gilad Atzmon

In his speech to the nation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged yesterday that the war on Gaza is a battle for the existence of the Jewish State. Netanyahu is correct. And Israel cannot win this battle; it cannot even define what a victory might entail. Surely the battle is not about the tunnels or the militants’ underground operation, the tunnels are just weapons of resistance rather than the resistance itself. The Hamas and Gaza militants lured Israel into a battle zone in which it could never succeed and Hamas set the conditions, chose the ground and has written the terms required to conclude this cycle of violence.

For ten days Netanyahu did all he could to prevent an IDF ground operation. He was facing the reality that Israel lacks a military answer to Palestinian resistance. Netanyahu knew that a defeat on the ground would eradicate the little that remains of IDF’s power of deterrence.

Five days ago, Israel, at least in the eyes of its supporters, held the upper ground. It saw it citizens subject to an endless barrage of rockets, yet it showed relative restraint, killing Palestinian civilians only from afar, which served to convey an imaginary image of strength. But that has changed rapidly since Israel launched its ground operation. Israel is now, once again, involved in colossal war crimes against a civilian population and worse, at least strategically, its elite infantry commandos are being eradicated in a face-to-face street battle in Gaza. In spite of clear Israeli technological superiority and firepower, the Palestinian militants are winning the battle on the ground and they have even managed to move the battle to Israeli territory. In addition, the barrage of rockets on Tel Aviv doesn’t seem to stop.

IDF’s defeat in Gaza leaves the Jewish State with no hope. The moral is simple. If you insist on living on someone else’s land, military might is an essential ingredient to discourage the dispossessed from acting to reclaim their rights. The level of IDF casualties and the number of bodies of Israeli elite soldiers returning home in coffins send a clear message to both Israelis and Palestinians. Israeli military superiority belongs to the past. There is no future for the Jews-only-State in Palestine; they may have to try somewhere else.

Rubbish - after a week or so there will be a cease fire.

Then in one year or two it will all start up again with more rockets fired out of Gaza.

Hamas is a Creation of Mossad

http://www.alanhart.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Mossad-Motto.jpg

by Hassane Zerouky

Thanks to the Mossad, Israel's "Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks", the Hamas was allowed to reinforce its presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, Arafat's Fatah Movement for National Liberation as well as the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression and intimidation

[b][size=12]Let us not forget that it was Israel, which

Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the Islamist movement in Palestine, returning from Cairo in the seventies, established an Islamic charity association.

The Islamists set up orphanages and health clinics, as well as a network of schools, workshops which created employment for women as well as system of financial aid to the poor. And in 1978, they created an "Islamic University" in Gaza. "The military authority was convinced that these activities would weaken both the PLO and the leftist organizations in Gaza." At the end of 1992, there were six hundred mosques in Gaza. Thanks to Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad (Israel’s Institute for Intelligence and Special Tasks) , the Islamists were allowed to reinforce their presence in the occupied territories. Meanwhile, the members of Fatah (Movement for the National Liberation of Palestine) and the Palestinian Left were subjected to the most brutal form of repression.

In 1984, Ahmed Yassin was arrested and condemned to twelve years in prison, after the discovery of a hidden arms cache. But one year later, he was set free and resumed his activities. And when the Intifada (‘uprising’) began, in October 1987, which took the Islamists by surprise, Sheik Yassin responded by creating the Hamas (The Islamic Resistance Movement): "God is our beginning, the prophet our model, the Koran our constitution", proclaims article 7 of the charter of the organization.

Ahmed Yassin was in prison when, the Oslo accords (Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government) were signed in September 1993. The Hamas had rejected Oslo outright. But at that time, 70% of Palestinians had condemned the attacks on Israeli civilians. Yassin did everything in his power to undermine the Oslo accords. Even prior to Prime Minister Rabin’s death, he had the support of the Israeli government. The latter was very reluctant to implement the peace agreement.

Quite unexpectedly, Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered Sheik Ahmed Yassin to be released from prison ("on humanitarian grounds") where he was serving a life sentence. Meanwhile, Netanyahu, together with President Bill Clinton, was putting pressure on Arafat to control the Hamas. In fact, Netanyahu knew that he could rely, once more, on the Islamists to sabotage the Oslo accords. Worse still: after having expelled Yassin to Jordan, Prime Minister Netanyahu allowed him to return to Gaza, where he was welcomed triumphantly as a hero in October 1997.

Arafat was helpless in the face of these events. Moreover, because he had supported Saddam Hussein during the1991 Gulf war, (while the Hamas had cautiously abstained from taking sides), the Gulf states decided to cut off their financing of the Palestinian Authority. Meanwhile, between February and April 1998, Sheik Ahmad Yassin was able to raise several hundred million dollars, from those same countries. The the budget of The Hamas was said to be greater than that of the Palestinian Authority. These new sources of funding enabled the Islamists to effectively pursue their various charitable activities. It is estimated that one Palestinian out of three is the recipient of financial aid from the Hamas. And in this regard, Israel has done nothing to curb the inflow of money into the occupied territories.

The Hamas had built its strength through its various acts of sabotage of the peace process, in a way which was compatible with the interests of the Israeli government. In turn, the latter sought in a number of ways, to prevent the application of the Oslo accords. In other words, Hamas was fulfilling the functions for which it was originally created: to prevent the creation of a Palestinian State. And in this regard, Hamas and Ariel Sharon, see eye to eye; they are exactly on the same wave length.
