There was peace until Hamas started the rockets. The way you deal with a bully like Hamas is that you do not start a war but when they start it, you hit back without mercy. Especially the third time.
This is not the first time Hamas has been shelling Israel from Gaza. They have been in control of Gaza for 9 years now. They have done NOTHING for their people, they spent all that aid money on tunnels, rockets and high living. And they have been shelling Israel under the cover of 'international opinion' all along.
Enough is enough. Israel would be remiss if they didn't destroy Hamas this time around. In a war, one side needs to know it's beaten. There is no end until then. And it's not going to be the Jews. Wake up.
Excellent editorial piece.
Except that after a certain number of civilian casualties Israel will be told to stop by Obama.
Hamas will still be there.
Obama can stop this any time he wants to.
No he can’t. Israel is out on its own on this...
... quietly supported by Egypt, Jordan, the Saudies.
Mark Steyn:
Libya is imploding on the western side of Egypt, so Egypt's got this situation now where the Muslim Brothers have slipped over the border to Libya and hooked up with the guys who killed our fellows in Benghazi. So they're concerned about that. Jordan has got an eastern border where buildings built by American taxpayers are now manned by these head-hacking jihadists from ISIS. Syria's got a civil war that's ...expanded Jordan's population by 25% with Syrian refugees. So right now, these guys have got all the instability they can handle, and they are looking to Israel as actually a force for regional stability.
The Egyptian military, King Abdullah in Jordan, and the savvier princes of the House of Saud are not the most lovely specimens of humanity, but they're not insane and, to one degree or another, all have discreetly effective relations with Israel. So do the Gulf monarchies. They have no interest in joining Obama and Kerry in facilitating a resolution of this conflict that strengthens Hamas.
...
Obama told Netanyahu that Israel must lose. He wants an unconditional "humanitarian" cease-fire that will lead to a permanent one.
And he wants it now.
And by the way, the eventual terms of that cease-fire must include opening Hamas-controlled Gaza's borders with Egypt and Israel and ending Israel's maritime blockade of the Gaza coast. That is, the cease-fire must allow Hamas to rebuild its arsenal of death and destruction quickly, with US political and financial support.
Not only are there no takers for Obama's "peace plan" in Israel, there are no takers for it in Cairo, Amman or Riyadh either. http://www.steynonline.com/6496/taking-sides-in-a-new-middle-eastNobody in the Middle East wants to be the next Labia or Syria or Iraq and support for Hamas would be a recipe for just that, spreading instability and terrorism beyond Gaza.
SO Egypt, Jordan, the Saudis are standing with... er... Israel. Even Iran is quiet probably because ISIS is a much more immediate and proximate threat to its interests. The Hamas terrorists and the Islamic Jihadists, once again, overplayed their hands.
Funny place, the Middle East.
