I have value - I do - I am worth about $7.50 as a raw material to manufacture Soylent Green

Probably more than that Cliff48..  hey have you read the BOOK.!!???

Nah  not the Bible... Roll Eyes   the book  " Make Room Make Room"  by Harry Harrison (hmm however improbable that seems)

The BOOK that lead to the movie   with C Heston..

another view of a possible future.

In the end we'll even run out of insects to eat..  if Mother chooses starvation as the way to dispose of us.  Smiley

Happy happy joy joy

No, unfortunately I haven't.   I'll put it on my list Smiley

And on unlikely names, I always thought Edward Woodward had to be a 'made up' name, but it is his real name.

I hope you feel better Emma, sounds like reality is getting you down.

I think the happy people i know choose not to know, not to think too deeply.

Right now I am feeling down about facing the workplace psychopaths tomorrow.

Yeah commiserations miketrees..

tomorrow is another day.. likely to be similar to today...

But I'm Lucky     ( always look on the bright side of  life)

at least.. on my part

I only have to go and face the freaks when I feel like it.... I no longer must rise before the sun ... fight the freeway,, and work...   Been there done that ..  and  hey  things change...

well..   circumstances change.. nothing ever remains the same .. for ever.. so.. heyy   tomorrow is another day... who knows??

the world series baseball was not named after a "mr world". Bodybuilding and baseball are 2 different disciplines.

Dear Emma, couple the Jevons paradox with Bill Gates idea about automation where he said automation will increase the efficiency of an 'efficient process' but will likewise increase the inefficiency of an 'inefficient process' and we are back to the start of the industrial revolution...

-  us voting consumers have been fed hollywood ideas and cheap electronica comfort thru preferential trade deals(!..as Judith Sloane herself calls them..!)  Shocked Shocked and the idea of productivity and what is and is not efficient has to raise it's head at some point...

Lastly: nothing grows exponentially  Wink i.e. life is sinusodial !!

Had to look that up in a dictionary.. Smiley given your spelling   Smiley

i guess you refer to a sine curve being a better representation of life than  'exponential'..

what can I say??   Smiley,  I'm no mathmetician  Smiley
but
aren't we like a pyramid scheme..  ??   Smiley

Sinusoidal goes up and down: exponential only goes one way..pyramid scheme is someone elses lingo: try last nail or bobby or possibly anyone but me   Cool

I suppose pyramid scheme refers to long term sinusoidal: it's a joke of a world and ya gotta be careful because the tidal wave of money involved changes circumstances quickly- potentially!

--> hence socialist ideas to smooth the economic cycles...

Automation is why mums and dads got out of investing in the stockmarket, for instance:
THIS ITSELF MUST HAVE CONSEQUENCES AND HISTORY WILL BE WRITTEN BY IT... imho atleast   Cool Cool

HOW MUCH,  Roll Eyes I dunno, but it plays a significant part I would say: just saying!

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *

lol  yep, I enjoy QI too Smiley
but unfortunately Ian is correct..... i did some google searches ...

Quote:
The 1904 Reach Guide reported on this first official "World's Championship Series," (played in 1903) using a name first coined in 1886 by the Spalding (of athletic equipment fame) Base Ball Guide in reference to the post-season game between Chicago and St. Louis. Spalding's editor noted that since both teams were already "champions of the United States" in their respective leagues, the winner of the post-season games would be "world" champions, hence the "World's Championship Series." Spalding's continued to refer to post-season games by this name, adding that as other nations embraced baseball, their winning teams would participate in the playoffs, turning the "World's Championship Series" into a reality.

such is life.. Smiley ya gotta laugh thanks Cliff48 Smiley

er perhaps I need an updated dictionary..?? Sinusoidal...
a sine curve  .n. the graph of the equation y = sin x

well whatever you say ...  Smiley

"I suppose pyramid scheme refers to long term sinusoidal: it's a joke of a world and ya gotta be careful because the tidal wave of money involved changes circumstances quickly- potentially!"

you get the drift ..well done..
I don't have the training to talk about these things in tech...
I just comment as it seems valid..

Still.. it is an appealing idea.. the World series I mean... 'cos otherwise it says.. Yanks really are that full of it  they think they represent the centre of the cosmos, and all else are simply to serve.
