I know there's a strand on this somewhere - and this is not a party politics issue - it is a LEGAL one. No party is responsible or receives kudos for a police aqency doing its job.

Same here - as long as they aren't allowed back in. They can stay there for life as far as I'm concerned and they obviously don't consider Australia their REAL home at all in any way.

Probably impossible to do but what they need is the legislation not to stop them going to Syria but to stop them returning.

And I suspect the cat is out of the bag, these nobbers will come back and set up their own instant networks of jihadists and be challenging each other to the kudos of a bomb going off in oz. Or maybe just a coordinated setting of bushfires.

These people have the potential to reshape middle eastern geopolitics. They are recreating Muhammed's caliphate, and sending thousands fleeing in their wake. We should be doing everything we can to stop them, even if it means keeping Muslims here - as the AFP are attempting to do by cancelling passports.
