Aust could help US with airdrops
Aug 10th, 2014 at 7:34am

Quote:
Two C-130 Hercules aircraft based in the United Arab Emirates could possibly be used to assist in drops of food, water and other humanitarian supplies on Mount Sinjar, where 40,000 Iraqis are trapped.

Australia will be ready to assist within days should it be called to action.

"We are looking to assist as quickly as we can," Mr Abbott said.

The prime minister said it was important Australia join international partners on helping stifle a potentially large-scale humanitarian disaster.

A humanitarian disaster that began with the US invading Iraq with little Johnny's full support.

Who ever they send over there had better watch out for those Weapons Of Mass Destruction.

It's a good idea.

Australia does have some responsibility to the people in Iraq
after helping to destroy the country in 2 wars.

Probably waiting for some innocent and unarmed freight crew to be blown to bits..... need an excuse...

I'd do it now... cluster bombs on the Jihad Highway.  Let's be honest.. any self-respecting civilian would get as far away as possible..... you'd hit 99% jihadists or supporters.

They were the same war.

"2" was just a recommencement of hostilities....after Iraq broke the ceasefire...so just the one war

We could air drop in a platoon of Ozpolitic volunteer muslim hating extremists to lead the fight. Don't know how they would go with mattresses strapped to their backs.

Australia has never started or finished anything on the international stage apart from a brief interlude from Gough Whhitlam government which opened a door into China.

Australia has always blindly followed the leader. First UK. Now USA. "All the way with LBJ".

Laugh, do you have a problem with Australia doing food drops to a minority of unarmed civilians who are surrounded on a barren mountain and  being threatened with annihilation by Sunni Muslim fanatics?

Its not credible. Abbott is posing. Aircraft would have to fly low for drops and exposed to AA fire and Manpads.

How about hairdrops instead. They could float down thousands of finest export grade map of Tassie Australian merkins.

Just love the reports coming through of the U.S. Air Force smoking the convoys, waiting to obliterate the men women and children stranded on that crappy mountain.
