Do the national party still exist?

After Libs played Nationals, like a Banjo, on fuel tax , does anybody know if they're doing everything they can to distance themselves from the sinking ship. Where o where could they be hiding. Been nothing but silence.

Nationals are just Liberals with hats. They are a lingering irrelevance.

Well as the leader of the National party is Deputy Prime Minister, I hardly think the question of its existence could be taken seriously.

Could the OP remind us if the Green Party still exists as a serious political contender, or are they merely a quirky gathering of eccentrics resided over by laughable whingers, deviants, and fools?

Great point swagman. The nats have a tiny support base and so struggle for candidates. Because of that, the ones they do con into running are of poor quality.

Liberals have 63 member in Parliament and the Nationals 10.
Nationals hands up to all the liberals want is a gentlemen's agreement  that the liberals wont decimate them further by standing liberal candidates in national held electorates.

Speaking as one of the few Australians who don't live in a capital city, I would have too say the Nationals no longer represent me or anyone else in rural Australia. They should be outspoken against foreign ownership, the impact of the 457 of the workforce of rural communities and the ongoing relaxation of all quarantine laws and surprisingly enough they are not. They stopped caring years ago when the Liberal party realised that neither of them could beat Labor and made them join up.
Apparently its better to be the silent voice in government than vocal in opposition.

Unite and conquer, its worked a treat politically but the the Nationals have lost all relevance in the process. Having a Nationals Leader as deputy PM is nothing more than feel good tokenism. The nationals still exist and if they defected which I doubt they could or would do, then the Caolition would be a spent force. So for the sake of party unity the Liberals will throw them a bone occasionally, maybe even let them off the leash when they take them for a walk down to the park but beyond that the Nationals will always know who their master is.

150 fantastic candidates and excellent policies on a sound four pillar base. No wonder the cons are worried.

Meanwhile the nats are selling out regional australia just to keep themselves alive.

Shame gnats. shame.
