Bill Shorten says Russia's sanctions make hin sick

Australian Labor Party leader Bill Shorten says Russia's latest sanctions imposed on Australia make him 'sick in the guts' and has offered a bipartisan approach to the response.

Russia is banning beef, pork, fruit and vegetable produce, poultry, fish, cheese, milk and dairy products from a number of countries including Australia in retaliation for trade bans imposed over its support for separatists in the Ukraine.

'Do you want to know what I think? Who are they to put sanctions on us?' Mr Shorten told a business summit in Melbourne on Friday.

- 'Electricity' Bill Shorten may require some further research on mechanisms of political economic warfare.

If this is such a problem then how about dropping the whole sanction non-sense. So many countries are suffering from these sanctions just because their leaders want to please Washington.

I have no sympathy.

If The Simian and Asbestos Julie hadn't gone off half-cocked in the first instance, then tried
to cover their feckup with bluster, arrogance and spin, there wouldn't BE a problem.

This is all our own doing, and Shorten should be sheeting the blame home to this terminally
inept 'government' where it belongs, not to Russia or Putin.

all the facts???? what facts do you still need to assert that Russian separatists supported by Putin downed this plane? demanding more and more facts makes you sound like an apologist.. or worse. the evidence is damning and substantial. Is that meant to be strange or something? Why do you think Vlad would want to stop US from assembling their other army (NATO) in Ukraine that literally covers half of Russia's Western border? Have a good hard think about that mate. Really deep and strategic think. Now why on earth would Putin want to prevent that eh? Any ideas? Remember how at the "end" of the cold war USA promised not to advance NATO "a step further towards Russia"? Did they keep up that promise? Now they almost have Ukraine and nearly took Crimea with it. In case you didn't know Mr Shorten the Russians are a super power who wield a lot of influence with China and other nations around the world that do not sympathise with American domination.....Who do you think you are to support one side in a civil war that has SFA to do with Australia.....Bring the dead home and keep out of disputes that do nor concern us.....The current Ukraine Government overthrew the democratically elected Government and refused to accept a referendum in Crimea to join the Russians instead of the EU.....Who are we to tell the people of Ukraine they must accept an illegitimate Government???
