"Islamic State" - one of these words closely relates to them
Good point S. In fact I think I'll create a new group of rapists and head hackers and call it "Danish Trollers" - and thereby automatically making you responsible for them.
The only difference in this case is that both words are related, not just one.
No.
The most significant difference is that no atrocities are being committed in the name of Denmark. You know why? Because Denmark, like Australia, is not an ideology, like Islam is.
That's the BIG diff.
But I am sure you do not see that.
Looks like the old boy's been reading Althusser on ideology. Repressive State Aparatuses, Ideological State Aparatuses, all that. Ideologies underpin belief systems - they are not systems of belief in themselves. Ideologies are largely unconscious. Ideological forces such as race, class and gender disguise themselves. Being revealed threatens ideologies.
Shouting Allah Uakbar while you blow something up is definitely an ideological action, but your stated reason for doing so is a conscious rationale, not an ideology. That’s the BIG diff that the old boy doesn’t want you to see.
Calling for the carpet-bombing of entire populations based on their cultural/religious beliefs is also ideological. It's done for the sole purpose of providing pleasure or relieving anxiety - a form of
shadenfreud with no conscious purpose or plan.
Any proposed rationale is merely an afterthought. The point is to satisfy the urge - using any means necessary. Such reasons are full of ideology, but not ideologies in themselves. "Security" is not an ideology, but deeply laden with ideological forces.
Revealing the ideological foundations of such calls to violence provides much anxiety. The old boy is perpetually irritable. At times, like the Jihadist, he's just plain cranky. He's right - Denmark, like Australia, is not an ideology, but neither is Islam. "Islam", like "America" or "the West" is a collection of competing ideologies.
Ideologies are those unconscious forces that fill you full of bile, or tie you blindly to some abstract tribal allegiance. Blaming the "West" is ideological. Blaming "Islam" is ideological. Being driven to extreme and pointless calls to non-defensive acts of violence is most ideological.
The old boy will, no doubt, disagree. He's a Freudian.
Where there was ego, there shall id be.
