A top Israeli defence official was forced to step down after the United states expressed fury at Israel's decision to sell military equipment to China.

The conflict,according to the daily,stems from different interpretations of the military support contract between the USA and Israel.

Israel explained to US officials that sensitive components of the equipment had been removed before the transfer and were being held in Europe.
However the US insisted that the fact that equipment had made its way to China at all present s a security risk to the Middle east.

The USA is concerned that the advanced technology could trickle from China to Iran.

Israels sales of weapons and military systems hit a record high last year of $7.5 billion.

Israel is now ranked as one of the largest arms exporters, a considerable achievement for a country smaller than New York.

The arms related trade is reported to account for between 1/5 and 1/10 of Israel's exports.
The main buyers are Asian countries,India,Europe,USA,Canada,Australia and Latin America.

Israel pioneered the airborne drones,Israel hopes to repeat that success with missile interception systems such as Iron Dome.
