Its a
'RED HERRING'
.

Russia is shooting itself in the foot with any Alliances and help from the European side of things. But there won't be any major 'WAR' between the two. Russia is expressing a state of overall 'Fear'.
China will invade!
Then Russia will only have the USA to call on for help
and the USA won't help until 'crazy' North Korea brings it into the conflict - and it will.

Politics and Military in Europe is mostly a 'default' empowerment run by the USA and the UN. Europe is letting go of 'Military Might' because of what Germany did (take up the weapon against the Jews, etc) and because of what France must do (drop the weapon against the Moslems). Europe is becoming 'progressively' Medical in its ways.

Kinda feel sorry for the Russians.   Sad
26 million killed in WW2,
became the USSR in the 'default' confrontation with the USA over Asia towards the 'Taoism' of an All White Northern Hemisphere belief.
Had to renege upon being a Communist (in alliance with China) and became a Capitalist like its former adversary - the USA.
Now it is being forced to make a decision/commitment: Be Pro-European or Pro-Asian. If it takes the former - then it will be an 'Enemy' (traitor) to China. You can't look both ways at the same time.
So maybe another 26 million Russians will die, maybe more (along with Chinese)?  Sad

...meanwhile in Australia. 22 million Australians are living the good life (one of the highest quality in the world) under the old belief that they are just poor 'down trodden' dumped by British.  Roll Eyes
Yep - all them cooking shows, sports n' leisure shows, holiday shows...  Huh
really show how 'down trodden' those poor Aussie Convicts are.

ya gotta laugh! This from tony rabbit,

Australia is ramping up its sanctions against Russia, in line with moves made by the United States and European Union.Prime Minister Tony Abbott told parliament on Monday that Russia was 'deliberately and openly' violating Ukrainian sovereignty by moving at least 1000 troops and military vehicles into the country.'Australia will lift its sanctions against Russia to the level of the European Union,' Mr Abbott said. This includes no new arms exports, no access by Russian state-owned banks to the Australian capital market, no new exports for the oil and gas industry, no new trade or investment in the Crimea and targeted financial sanctions and travel bans against specific individuals.'The bullying of small nations by big ones and assertions that might is right should have no place in our world,' Mr Abbott said. -

Thing is mr Rabbit we don't sell that poo to Russia

What was once a Sword, is now a Scalpel.
Not a Gun.

Europe has a 'Gun' problem
South America (Draconia) has a 'drug' problem.

Europe is becoming progressively Medical
South America (Draconia) is becoming progressively Military

...but still some hold onto the 'old' ways, like something "Precioussssss"  Wink

President Vladimir Putin has dramatically raised the stakes in the Ukraine conflict by calling for the first time for statehood to be considered for the restive east of the former Soviet state.'We need to immediately begin substantive talks ... on questions of the political organisation of society and statehood for southeastern Ukraine with the goal of protecting the lawful interests of the people who live there,' Putin was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies on a TV show broadcast in the far east of the country.Russia has previously only called for greater rights under a decentralised federal system to be accorded to the eastern regions of Ukraine, where predominantly Russian-speakers live.In the program, taped on Friday, Putin did not directly address additional Western sanctions on Russia.Putin however blamed the crisis in Ukraine on the West, accusing it of supporting a 'coup' against pro-Kremlin president Viktor Yanukovych in February.'They should have known that Russia cannot stand aside when people are being shot almost at point-blank,' said Putin, adding that he did not have in mind 'the Russian state but the Russian people.'Putin has denied that Moscow has sent regular troops to fight in Ukraine, but pro-Russian rebels have said that many Russian soldiers have volunteered while 'on vacation'.

Russia’s foreign minister believes that the peace plan offered by the Ukrainian president is “unrealistic” and calls of the US and the EU to persuade Kiev to stop using heavy artillery and airstrikes against the civilian population in the country’s east.

“We assume that the most important thing is for Washington and Brussels to demand Kiev do the same thing they demand in any other conflict: stop using heavy artillery, aviation against the cities, against civilians; not to destroy schools, hospitals,” Sergey Lavrov said on Monday, addressing students at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

There's a Russian author currently hear at the festival of dangerous ideas - she has an interesting theory about Putin. She says Putin's belligerence in Ukraine is a direct attack on the west to defend against western moral values - democracy, freedom, gay rights etc

A resident Islam critic who claims to represent western values said:

Outlawing the enemy's uniform - hijab, islamic beard - is not depriving one's own people of their freedoms.

Wow!

He's given his 'tacit backing'.

I'm sure we all feel humbled and so privileged and honoured to have this fellow's 'tacit' approval.

Where the hell would we all be without the UN and its modern day Lords of the Manor?

His tacit backing.

I'm sure our prime minister will sleep better at night now that he knows this Star Wars character 'Ban Ki-moon' has given him the nod.

Dear O dear O dear ... and Christ wept.
