DA Drops Charges Because of Global Warming
Sep 11th, 2014 at 8:11pm

Two climate activists were set to go on trial in Massachusetts on Monday for blocking the shipment of 40,000 tons of coal to the Brayton Point power plant, one of the largest greenhouse gas contributors in the region.  But in a surprise move, the Bristol County District Attorney Sam Suttera dropped the criminal charges giving as his reason that the action of the activists was justified because climate change is one of the gravest crises our planet has ever faced.

What a wise wonderful DA Mr Sam Suttera is.  What follows is a video report on Democracy Now of this stunning world first and an interview with the 2 climate activists and most importantly that very wise prosecutor, Mr Sam Sutter.  Thank God for these selfless, courageous people on our earth and shame on those lying climate change deniers who, to avoid even the slightest inconvenience in their lives, are obstructing any meaningful action to prevent this catastrophe.

The DA should be sacked for incompetence.

Bringing in your personal beliefs into a criminal case has no place in the judicial system..

Here in Australia, we burn coal because we have stacks of it...

Its the Australian way...

See my thread - Shredding Stupidity on Renewable Energy

It applies to people like this DA and you...

legitimising criminal activity on the basis of a belief is silly.  so if people bombed an abortion clinic then it is okay?

the real story is that they probably had little or no evidence to support the claim.  if the reasons is actually as stated, then he should be sacked.

I can't say I agree with the DA in this instance.

its hard to imagine ANYONE agreeing with this.  when due process gets subverted by personal ideology then it is time to throw that person out.  That said, I find it unlikely that the story is as simple as stated in the OP

Of course you didn't watch the clip and therefore won't know sh!t. Of course when he dropped the charges he did so applying the usual prosecutorial guidelines but added that he supported the activists reasons for what they did though not for their breaking of the law.  I'm a realist, I have no doubt that the prosecutor bent and twisted those prosecutorial guidelines to get the result he wanted (no prosecution). I've seen this played out the other way often enough and cant say I'm unhappy about the way it turned out this time.  Its time we took extraordinary steps to protect ourselves and future generations from the coming disaster that is global warming.  Next step disobedience.

so bombing abortion clinics are okay in your book?  That is of course assuming you adopt consistency in breaking the law to serve a higher purpose.  that sounds oddly like the rationale of terrorist groups.

unsurprising that neing a climate denier you would also support breaking the law to serve your religion of hysteria.

The usual reason for DAs dropping charges is the risk the outcome sets a precedent that the polluters won't like.

Persistent offenders of the environment hate precedents.

you never post anything that is even credible.  I am pretty sure you've never heard of Occam's Razor and certainly not likely to accept is premise.

Lostweekend58 is ridiculing itself by calling everyone who disagrees with it a moon landing denier. It exemplifies that Lostweekend58 has no arguments and no debating skill and just blathers and blubbers and deceives and punctuates its existence with methane plumes.

Eventually Lostweekend58 will dissolve into a puddle of liver particles and offal by vast consumption of slabs of beer. Have another slab darling.

but the problem for you is that you ARE a moon-landing denier and therefore officially a tinfoil hat wearing drongo. a s a result the rest of your posted nonsense lacks any credibility simply because YOU believe it.

See as a university trained person I can understand the physicis involved in what happened (911 and moon landings) while your ignorance forces you to follow after stupid answers because that is all you can understand.

its not your fault you are an uneducated stupid fellow.  But it doesn't change the fact that you are one.
