Probably after "Airbus Abbott" eclipsed Rudd's travel miles for the first year in Office. To carry him and his tongue around requires a lot of space. All that licking to do.......

Rudd had 'Personality', something many a Political Leader lacked, especially with the MEDIA being such a big influence on Politics itself these days.

Also, I nearly rolled out of my seat in laughter Grin

when I saw the looks of dread upon the faces of the Chinese Leaders when this little nerdy Australian was letting rip in fluent Chinese as if to say "Anything you can do, I can do better!" Tongue

The only flaw I saw in him was that he had more 'Political' skill, than he had 'Economically' (MONEY MONEY MONEY) - hence why his wife was even richer than him.

...but in Politics - what really is important?

Abbott complained that Rudd never 'shuts up',
