Small suburban Sydney money transfer business suspended over fears it could finance terrorism

A small suburban money transfer business in Sydney's west has been suspended from trading amid concerns it could be used to funnel funds to terrorists in the Middle East.

The nation's financial intelligence unit, Austrac, today announced it had suspended the registration of Lakemba-based remittance provider Bisotel Rieh.

The move comes amid growing concerns that some Australians have been sending money overseas to support terrorist organisations, such as the Islamic State.
