Why would we care if terrorists take out our greedy, corrupt, self serving cowardly Coalition pollies?

It will save us voting out the lying scum in 2016.

Exactly: 'Discussion ends ... '

That is, no more 'consultations', 'meetings', group hugs, kumbaya dancing around the camp fire ... with the Muslim Community leaders.

Now that Abbott can hear the heavy tread of combat boots outside his office door, he'll be aware that the Islamic jihad has finally arrived at his own doorstep.

Any minute now the Parliamentary staff will see the PM enter one of the telephone booths as Mild Mannered Tony Abbott ... and emerge as ... Action Man Tony - the Caped Crusader Against the Mohammaden Menace!!

Yay!!

Incidentally, just have a look at the media's response to the anti-terrorist raids.

Supportive? Congratulatory?

Not at all!

They've summoned to the Cause every ratbag lefty they can find to voice objection and criticism of this initiative.

Whole stables of Lefty arseholes have been queued up to condemn the Preventive Detention law that allows for suspects to be held without charge, etc etc.

The ABC news devotes almost all of its time airing the opinions of those who are highly critical of this policing action.

Some people, to get more security trade away some of their freedoms but gain neither security nor freedom—something like that.

Preventive detention laws? Really? They sucked when Howard tried it and suck now. All you need to be able to do is think, which is hard for some people like racists and fanbois.

I have to say I am surprised to hear that there weren't armed guards in Parliament House long before this.

Other politicians and parties in the past have generally been straight up with the public so there was no need.

Not at all.

Since 9/11 they've been assured that politicians will not be targeted for jihadi retribution, for to do so would only serve to cause triple the amount of funding to be spent on national security measures, and a doubling of secret service personnel, and the introduction of new laws designed to untie the hands of the police so they can do their jobs more effectively without the restraints that currently make their jobs all but impossible to carry through to a successful conclusion because of smartarse pro bono socialist lawyers and High Court judges who want to frustrate them at every turn.

You'd be surprised... I did airport security and the weapons were .38 pistols...

I think we've grown up a little since then.  I would hope so... all the electronic security in the world is not good without teeth behind it in the way of a viable response.

A cab filled with idiots abroad could have pulled up and AKs and grenades used with near impunity, like Lod airport so very long ago.

I used to tremble, well, be on heightened alert, at the Islamic crowds attending farewell for pilgrimage to Mecca every year... thousands of people.... and it only needed one in a huge crowd of well-wishers.

With Islam on the ascendancy throughout the West, the likelihood of a Middle Eastern-style Police State draws ever nearer.

That pessimistic, eh.  Smiley

They dont operate or have the capacity like a big modern military force in those major nations, they rather operate like globalised medieval street thugs.

There's one consolation.

By the time the caliphate has settled like an octopus over Europe and Scandinavia, stifling Freedom-and-Democracy ~ we will by then ALL be ragheads shouting "Allahu Akbar!" at the drop of a burqa on a bedroom floor.

Even when the traffic lights change at the intersections this will prompt a chorus of "Allahu Akbar!" from us.

As a technique for survival we will have all gone mad by then, just to keep our heads.

Got nothing to do with that - it's about terrorists and nutters, keeping them out.
