They came to Australia to make a better life for themselves and they did.

Their next door neighbour was a muslim and from the same part of Europe that my Grandmother was from. Over 45 years he became family and still is to this day. He would drive my grandmother to hospital to visit my grandfather when she needed it. He always made time to talk to me and laugh and joke and give me lollies and cordial. When my grandmother died 3 years ago he was such strong support for us. When his mother died, we sat with him and the body until she could be buried as is Islamic ritual. None of us had a problem, he would wish us a Merry Christmas and Happy Easter and we would celebrate EID with him.

The sad thing is these people in Sydney and Brisbane who were caught on Thursday are not good muslims. The islam that my neighbour showed me was a peace loving and gentle one. He is as sickened at this as all Australians are. I do believe there is a problem in Australia with growing extremism and I think the AFP were right to do what they did. Its just a shame that these extremists represent islam this day because its definitely not the islam I saw every day as a child. Cry

I'll take that as a comment.

How would I know what Rudd would have done?

I am concerned that the police may have put many Muslims - who could be helpful
in fighting against the terrorists - now off side -
therefore these kick door in raids could prove to be counter-productive.

Make no mistake: if anyone is involved in terrorism they should be hanged in public.

That's what we really need here - the death penalty.

Damn right that I believe in what they have done, especially what the AFT, ASIO have acomplished if it does lead saving the public from another muslim attack, after 9/11, the bali bombings, the bombings of two public transport systems in madrid and london, bombings in india, problems of muslim intergration into europe, the bloody rise of ISSIS and so on it is quite clear to me that there is a huge number of muslims out there who just happen to hate the guts of westerners like me or you, christians and anyone else who is not simply muslim, and that they dont tolerate womens rights and gays while christians may struggle with it, those commited radical muslims would put them to the sword.

This level of hatred and spite against australia and australians is not coming from the christians, jews or the hindus, the buddists, the sikhists, its coming from a section of the muslim community.

Mixed in with some dangerous ones unfortunetly and that problem in Islam seems really really big.
