So the french farmers are rising up against the socialist government that has over seen incredibly poor economic performance

Haha they should of took a page out of the history book about socialism being a failure.

theres a lot of pain amongst the farming community.
a young guy in my valley who worked 7 days a week from dawn to dusk, just couldn't keep the banks from the door . his wife left him and he ended up swinging from a rope in his shed.

still gives me nightmares.

such a solid wonderful Australian.

I have contacts in the NT and there are many similar stories.  A lot of it is to do with the devastation (financial devestation) suffered after live cattle were banned.

A couple of guys had established a really good program sending captured water buffalo (which do incredible damage to sensitive wetlands) back to Indonesia as part of the live cattle trade.

When the green senators stopped live cattle trade, these guys went broke and the buffalo are continuing the devestation of the wetlands.

So a heading greens support wetland destruction   may be appropriate.

really, a lot of this farmland is marginal and the farmers should be paid by the govt to be custodians, clear ferals, prevent weeds, fix soil erosion.

Sad when I hear about farmer suicide in Australia and they get only hatred from many groups.
Now with tonys throwing open the unis to market rates, there will be no vet schools in rural and regional Australia. I suppose all the vets will be rich city kids and they'll look after poodles and budgies.

More short sighted thinking from the authorities.

The only thing that stops most farmers in Australia rising up is sheer exhaustion

Hard time are falling on our farmers, but at lest in Australia in a free market system they own their farms and get to decide what to plant.

Again we see, abandoning a free market system will land us with food shortages like we saw in the USSR or Venezuela, The issue is increased wages (making harder to higher poeple) and increased regulations (forced to buy expensive new equipment and supplies) and overseas competition.

Also open the university to market rates is a fantastic thing, which will make university more adorable, prices fall on average 29% when university are open up market rates, as i said before, ive spent a year in the US university system, and we students are being ripped off at how poor our university education is.

Also may i add, in the US, they have a higher rate of rural students than we do, due to market rates and competition.
