Anyone who doesn't like having their swear words, particularly those F & C words, converted into something less aggressive, then I suggest there is an easy remedy.

Don't use them!

There are also those using this & other forums who don't like it &/or who "shouldn't" be exposed to that sort of language, irrespective of what you may think!

So, just don't use the swear words!

what a load of croc ... if I wanted to do that it wouldn't be an issue.

I think to many people live sheltered lives ... they should try to get out in the real world every now and then.

Well, as I have said previously, everything has limits & there are both "Human & Natural Laws", that ensure those limits!

you can try justify it to yourself anyway you like ...

Justify? I don't need to justify anything, the statement is factually correct!

Everything does have limits & there are both "Human & Natural Laws", that ensure those limits!

Cheers!

I didn't say the statement was incorrect ... I said you can try and justify, what in my view amounts to prudish censorship, with whatever excuse you like ... in the end it's still prudish censorship.

Well John, if the statement is correct, then nothing else need be said, no "justification is required!

And, the statement is correct, "everything does have limits & there are both "Human & Natural Laws", that ensure those limits"!

That's why there are Human Laws, which for example restrict what can be "seen & heard" on Television & Radio & restriction what we can "say & do, by way of Defamation Laws & Laws of Nature which say we can not endlessly pump Oil out of the ground, nor endlessly grow the Global Population.

Yes, as I have said, everything has limits and so to what can and can not be said &/or done, on forums such as these, no matter if you or others may think to the contrary.

That does not mean there will not be disagreement on the level of those limits, clearly there often is.

Some may think Moderation goes too far on somethings, whilst others will say it doesn't go far enough, But that's life.

Cheers!

Fortunately you and a few others who love swearing and want it splattered all over this board are a minority. If the owner/administrator doesn't use profanities here, then out of respect for him and this forum, why wouldn't you make an effort to follow the rules?

If you think this is prudish censorship, you need to find other forums where swearing is acceptable. Try PA where there is only light moderation rather than trying to change the rules of Ozpolitic to suit a minority.

Actually, it should be DAMN you. A dam is a barrier that impounds water or underground streams.

Yes - it's an unintended consequence of political correctness.

Because this isn't the owners home, the owner has set up a public forum, open to all members of the public, to have their say.

So you think people should only comment on a 'swear filter' thread if they agree with you? Maybe you should go to PA or start your own forum? That way you can run it according to how you like and only allow those who agree with you to post ?

I can give an opinion as you so freely give yours. No need to be defensive.

If the administration wanted swearing - there wouldn't be a swear filter or any moderation of it.

Not quite certain, but I think a dam keeps water in and a dyke keeps water out.

How did John try and change the rules? Is there some kind of campaign? A petition perhaps?

People are allowed to voice their dislike of what happens here. Pretty much all of your posts are in that vein.

Now for something completely different, please come back at me with some more biased moderation crap.
