So when a ship is attacked at sea, as an embassy on land, that is not considered an act of war?

The protection provided for a ship is a matter of local security, not a differentiation between a piece of sovereign territory.  Portions of an embassy are equally protected, but the territory on which it stands is considered sovereign territory of the state to which it belongs.

Same applies to a ship at sea.

Call it what you will.
People smuggling is illegal, and our forces are right in stopping the smuggling by any means necessary.
And when these people are found and detained
on board our vessels, the Navy have orders to get their carcasses off our sovereign vessels and into an orange life boat and point to them the way North.
Just the same as a US warship stopped and boarded a North Korean freighter on the high seas which was loaded with missiles destined for terrorists in the middle east.
Naturally the ship never made it's destination.
Just the same as other US Customs and Navy which stops smugglers vessels from Cuba entering the USA every week.
Just the same as the Israeli Navy which stopped those Turkish vessels loaded with terrorists in the Mediterranean Sea three years ago from entering Gaza.
And if any criminal gang or any rogue state want to make an issue of their illegal activities being halted, they are yet to do so.

Your words!
Some unknown person but obviously of rank ordered an Australian warship to intercept a vessel in international water and take all from it (unknown if it then used for target practice, sea cocks opened, or set to drift, or crewed to return for further cargo) those taken from the boat are then held prisoner until the Australian warship has invaded Indonesian waters with criminal intention and put non  Indonesians ashore.

On average abbott has been to Indonesia once every three months, Indonesia has got something abbott not want the Australian people to know about.

Tuesday 28 May 2013 6:33PM

(ABC: Laban Laisila)

In this month's budget, Australia increased its aid budget for Indonesia to $646 million next financial year.

That cements Indonesia's place as Australia's biggest aid recipient.

According to AusAID the money will be used to improve health and education outcomes, justice and governance.

But, is the money being spent wisely?

Wrong. Naval vessels are treated differently from Australian soil in that they are considered protected military facilities. You don't have the same rights onboard a RAN vessel like you do if you land on Australian soil.[/quote

Why has Dumb Dumb even gone to Indonesia in the first place for Joko’s inauguration? Wouldn't be the Head of State e.g. The Governor-General to be there instead of Head of Government e.g. The Prime Minister.

I am guessing Abbott is sending a message about the importance of the relationship and is going in person to attend court as it were.  Sending a representative might be seen as a snub.

Though I guess in a thread titled Abbott licks jakartas bum there is not much room for rational discussion.  Haters got to hate and when it comes to Abbott the hate morphs into mouth frothing idiocy and irrationality from some of the luvvie clowns.

In fact the clowns are so demented they would equally going berserk if he didn't go which demonstrates the lack of rationality.

Indeed - which begs the question as to why we are increasing our aid when:

"The largest show of military strength in Indonesia's history is also part of the farewells to president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, whose 10-year term ends on October 20.

The joint celebration is a clear indication of just how significantly Indonesia's military has expanded - a build-up that it is calling a modernisation, rather than an expansion.

As well as building its own navy ships, Indonesia has ordered Leopard tanks from Germany, Sukhoi fighter jets from Russia and Apache helicopters and missiles from the United States
.

Indonesia also has a joint venture with South Korea to build submarines there
, with plans to transfer the capability so a local industry can open up."

Our friends from the right went ballistic when Rudd/Gillard gave increased aid to Indonesia.   No outcry seen now?  So we increase our aid, whilst they expand their defence force.

What about all those homeless and pensioners that the Roids were worrying about and saying how they could be fed and housed when Rudd/Gillard were handing out the freebees to the Indons?    Did they suddenly cark and dissapear when Abbott got in?

It was during Morrison time of ordering the RAN to invade Indonesian waters, that the LNP decided to mark its friendship with Indonesia by taking back $50 Million in aid this year.
