LNP and Greens in discussion on that now, its just a matter of coming to a price acceptable by the greens!

Abbott and Hunt have boxed themselves into a corner here...If international progress is made on reducing carbon emissions they have stated they may increase their target but have introduced the most expensive measure to do so.....An ETS or Carbon Tax is out of the question with Tony Abbott as Prime Minister so any increase in targets is unlikely.....If Australia does not commit to higher targets there is every chance the rest of the world will place trade sanctions on our carbon intensive exports pricing our coal and value added minerals out of the market.....The only real option for the Abbott Government is to advocate for no action and business as usual!!!

Huh Huh Huh

Good on the Greens for not locking Australia into a path of failure via Labor's original dirty CPRS.

Yeah, so much better not to have a Carbon Price.

Maybe the Libs will now have to ditch Abbott and with Labor institute sensible carbon pricing.

Yes much better to have nothing to build on accept total destruction of our economy.....China have stated they will reduce consumption of coal which is bad news for our exports.....What Australia needs is a market mechanism that will allow a transition to renewable energy over time that corresponds with the reduction in the worlds reliance on coal....Revenue from an ETS could be used to help worker transition into other industries and help fund innovation to provide jobs in other areas of the economy.....Direct Action is an expensive stop gap that provides no security for investment or revenue to fund alternative programs to create jobs.....Abbott is a fools fool!!!

2016 is now an election on Australia's AGW path and the coalitions best chance is Turnbull.

With Abbott and his team of denialists, the coalition face a major swing against them.

Meanwhile will Labor risk their coal seats and their coal lobby donations to the party?

2016 is likely an election on our future path concerning AGW.

I suspect Greens will go to the election with a 100% renewable energy target within 10 years and plans on starting to shift Australia away from coal exports.

Do you expect Lib or Lab to outdo this?

You're getting the horn over nothing.

Obama is already being smashed by the Republicans about this, the new senate leader is from Kentucky, that state has major coal mining industry. His "deal" with China isn't worth spit.

And the Chinese have signed up basically to do nothing and any targets are non binding any way.

All hot air and CO2.

That in highlight above would spell doom....."Greens threaten 100,000's of jobs and billions in revenue" - Dumb

Peter Martin:

Quote:
China's coal use will have to decline in order for its greenhouse gas emissions to stabilise. That's because its use of other fuels is set to climb; petrol as more Chinese use cars and move things by truck, and natural gas as China switches to cleaner sources of heat.

The agreement between the US and China won't merely lead to a decline in the use of thermal coal in relative terms. It'll be a decline in absolute terms.

"We are no longer talking in terms of emissions intensity relative to GDP or anything like that – this is absolute, presuming China goes through with it, and China doesn't just make this commitment to look good, it means it," says climate change and energy specialist Frank Jotzo at the Australian National University.

Big problem for monkey!

Paris next year will see more countries sign up to reducing emissions, more trouble for monkey.

LOL

There's no deal, the targets aren't binding, it all piss and wind and CO2.

The only reason China is involved is because their country is turning into an environmental nightmare.

You tools love to comment on here about how Russia, China etc don't give a bugger about Australia's opinion on the worlds stage. Well i'm pretty they don't give a bugger about our pissy % of world emission either - Oh, except when "developing countries" spew out "per capita" emissions to make idiots feel guilty.

US and China negotiated for nine months on the emissions reductions. Paris next year will see that formalised.

It has kicked another hole in the Budget.

Monkey should consider increasing the RET not cutting it which will only cost jobs.
